King Charles and Prince Louis Share Heartwarming Moment at Easter Service

Easter is a significant event for the royal family, drawing attention and excitement every year. Senior members of the royal family traditionally gather at St. George’s Chapel on the Windsor Castle estate for a special Sunday service, attracting large crowds of fans who eagerly await a glimpse of the monarchy.

This year, King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with their three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. Their presence was particularly notable, as the Wales family had missed the 2024 and 2025 services due to Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.

While Kate’s return was a highlight for many royal enthusiasts, it was Prince Louis who captured the most attention. His playful interaction with his grandfather, King Charles, during the service became a topic of discussion among fans and media alike.

It’s easy to overlook the fact that, beneath the formalities and public appearances, the royal family is still a family. Moments like these remind us of their personal connections and the warmth they share. As the King and Queen Camilla prepared to enter the church, William, Kate, and the children stood respectfully to the side.

When Charles walked past his family, he blew a kiss to his grandchildren before stopping to interact with Louis. He placed a playful pat on the prince’s shoulder, which resulted in Louis smiling afterward. This gesture offered a glimpse into the affectionate relationship between the two.

Body language expert Judi James analyzed the moment, describing it as an “important soft launch of the pared-down royal firm.” She noted that Charles is not typically known for spontaneous displays of affection, but this time, he seemed genuinely engaged with Louis, touching his finger to the prince’s face.

James explained that while cupping a child’s face is more common, this touch suggested a desire to show affection from a man who may not naturally express it. She added that Charles’s slight awkwardness about public displays of affection made the gesture even more meaningful, possibly serving as a reward ritual as much as a sign of affection.

This isn’t the first time Charles and Louis have shared a public moment of connection. Over the years, the pair has often opted for a more casual and affectionate approach at royal events. One recent example was at the 2025 Trooping the Colour, where the king was seen laughing and pointing at Louis’s iconic balcony antics, as the youngster cheekily mimicked his grandfather.

Earlier, in 2022, Louis was pictured sitting on the then-Prince Charles’ lap during the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. These moments highlight the close bond between the two.

The royal family has experienced a lot of challenges recently, including several scandals involving Prince Andrew. From the king stripping his younger brother of his titles to Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, the family has faced numerous difficulties. It was recently reported that some of Andrew’s belongings were burned outside the 30-room Windsor Royal Lodge estate.

For the last two decades, Andrew had lived there virtually rent-free with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, until Charles evicted them in February this year. These events have added to the ongoing narrative of the royal family’s complex dynamics.
