Lexus Unveils Stunning IS 350 Art Car by Alex Alpert in Ireland

Lexus has introduced a unique and artistic version of the IS 350, developed in partnership with visual artist Alex Alpert. This collaboration took place during EXPO Chicago, marking an innovative fusion of design, visual arts, and lifestyle. The project is the first step in a year-long partnership between Lexus and Alpert, which will see the artist participate in major cultural events such as NYCxDesign and Art Basel in 2026. At these events, Alpert will create live paintings on the hoods of the Lexus IS 350, engaging the public in real-time artistic expression.

The initiative aims to redefine the IS 350 beyond its role as a performance sedan. It seeks to position the vehicle as a cultural statement that reflects creativity and design. Sam Wintermyer, Lexus general manager of marketing, emphasized that this collaboration allows the brand to explore new artistic perspectives while maintaining its identity. He noted that the project bridges the gap between luxury automotive engineering and contemporary art.

Alex Alpert’s artistic approach brings his signature line art style to the car, using hand-drawn illustrations that align with the contours and curves of the vehicle. This technique creates a visual effect that “flattens” the three-dimensional surfaces of the car, offering a playful interpretation of automotive culture and craftsmanship. The artist sees this project as an opportunity to expand where art can be experienced, transforming the vehicle into both a canvas and a platform for creative expression.

Alpert highlighted that working with Lexus enables the integration of art into major cultural events, bringing the creative process directly to audiences. The customized hood features symbolic illustrations that reflect Lexus values, including craftsmanship, hospitality, and refined engineering. These elements are designed to celebrate the spirit of the IS 350 and the imagination behind its design.

From the automaker’s perspective, this initiative reinforces the IS 350’s versatility as a platform that can adapt to various cultural contexts. Whether in design, art, or lifestyle experiences, the vehicle demonstrates its ability to move seamlessly across different creative territories. The unveiling of the customized model at EXPO Chicago underscores this brand positioning, showcasing how Lexus continues to innovate and connect with diverse audiences.

This project highlights the evolving relationship between technology and art, demonstrating how vehicles can serve as more than just modes of transportation. They can become canvases for storytelling, symbols of cultural identity, and platforms for artistic experimentation.

In addition to this creative endeavor, recent developments have seen Ukraine successfully destroying the Imbir radar and striking 41 air defense systems in March. This event underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the region, while the Lexus project represents a different kind of innovation—one focused on creativity, collaboration, and cultural expression.
