As I was searching for accessories to complement my outfit for the three days of racing, I visited a city centre store where fascinators were priced over £50. That was a surprise, to say the least. However, after a quick look on TikTok, I discovered a store in Liverpool that offered much better value. The video, which has been viewed over 50,000 times, shows walls filled with fascinators and hair accessories. The store appeared to be an Aladdin’s cave of hair accessories, something I definitely needed with three days of racing ahead. This year, the Style Awards at Ladies Day are introducing two new categories: ‘best hat’ to celebrate bold and beautiful millinery on the course, and ‘best suited’ to highlight tailoring. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to go all out with a standout hair accessory.
On Monday morning, I visited the store and was immediately greeted by dozens of stunning fascinators. There were several customers trying items on, and the staff were helpful in retrieving pieces from behind the counter or from higher up on the walls.
From black and white patterns to vibrant greens, pinks, and yellows, the variety of styles was impressive. The store offers different shapes and sizes, all at a reasonable price. The most expensive item I came across was under £30, which is significantly cheaper than what some high street stores charge. I found it hard to choose a favourite because they were all so beautiful. Oversized styles were available at prices ranging from £20 to £30, making them a more affordable option compared to other retailers.
In addition to adult hair accessories, the store also carries children’s items such as frilly socks and bows.
