This year marks the 13th instalment of the nation’s most talked-about reality show, and viewers are on the edge of their seats as a fresh batch of brides and grooms prepare to say “I do” to a complete stranger. While MAFS has a reputation for delivering explosive arguments and dramatic dinner party showdowns, it has also, against all odds, produced a few lasting romances. This addictive blend of chaos and connection is precisely why we can’t get enough.
We’ve pulled together all the essential intel on MAFS 2026, from the latest episode recaps to all the juicy gossip you need to stay in the loop.
What’s New and What’s Happened: MAFS 2026 Episode Recaps
Episode 9 Recap (February 15): Commitment Ceremony Chaos
Commitment Ceremony time! Following the intensity of Revelations Week, some couples are stronger than ever, while others are teetering on the brink. Mel and Luke faced the experts first. Mel copped a grilling for her treatment of Luke and her reluctance to embrace the MAFS journey. Despite Mel choosing to leave, Luke opted to stay, meaning they’ll remain in the experiment for another week, attempting to mend their fractured relationship.
Rachel and Steven, who have been struggling to ignite a romantic spark, received praise for their recent progress. However, Rebecca was blindsided when her husband, Steve, declared they were firmly in the friend zone. Meanwhile, cracks are starting to show in what appeared to be a solid union between Julia and Grayson, with Grayson admitting he feels their relationship is largely dictated by Julia’s terms.
After their explosive argument during Revelations Week, Stella confronted Brook about her perceived lack of desire for their relationship with Filip to succeed. This led to Brook erupting, calling Stella a “fool” and stating she never wanted to see her again, much to the experts’ calls for calm.
Episode 8 Recap (February 11): Revelations Week Deep Dive
Revelations Week continued with the couples split into two groups for the new “red flag, green flag” challenge. In a surprising turn, the seemingly strong pairing of Steve and Rebecca found themselves shaken after Steve detailed a lengthy list of incompatibilities with his wife. Luke, meanwhile, was encouraged by his fellow grooms to open up about the dire state of his relationship, while Mel confessed to the brides that Luke had been putting her “through hell” all week. Brook revealed a fiercer side, confronting the women about what she perceived as “fake showmances,” with Stella and Alissa in her direct line of fire.
Episode 7 Recap (February 10): Moving In and Unsettling Truths
The newlyweds began moving into their new homes, a development that amplified existing incompatibilities for some couples. Revelations Week also kicked off, presenting Luke with another blow when Mel failed to rank him first in the photo challenge. Later, Mel admitted to stalking her ex-boyfriends post-breakup, leaving Luke deeply concerned. He opted to stay elsewhere for the night, seeking some space.
Brook gained a new perspective on her husband Chris during Revelations Week when she watched his audition tape and wasn’t shy about calling him out for disparaging remarks. Bec continued to be hurt by Danny’s insistence on a lack of sexual chemistry, while Gia and Scott, who possess undeniable chemistry, faced their first significant hurdle when Scott revealed his reluctance to financially support another man’s child, a revelation that deeply dismayed single mother Gia.
Episode 6 Recap (February 9): The First Dinner Party Drama
The inaugural Dinner Party of the season certainly didn’t disappoint. As the newlyweds gathered for the first time since their respective hens and bucks’ nights, introductions were initially civil. However, old tensions between Bec and Gia quickly resurfaced. Bec’s fears that Danny might be more attracted to Gia seemed to materialise as Danny’s attention was repeatedly drawn to the busty blonde. Meanwhile, Luke and Mel’s situation deteriorated further, with Mel isolating Luke and spending the evening criticising him to the other women.
Episode 5 Recap (February 8): New Couples and Emerging Doubts
Sunday night’s episode introduced us to two more couples: Stella and Filip, and Julia and Greyson. Both pairings appeared to have instant chemistry and enjoyed smooth weddings, at least until Stella’s friend Leila questioned Filip’s intentions, suspecting he wasn’t genuinely seeking love.
Episode 4 Recap (February 5): Honeymoon Hurdles and Awkward Encounters
As the first week of weddings drew to a close, the couples were getting to know each other better. Gia and Scott were growing closer during their holiday in Townsville, with Gia contemplating taking their relationship to the next level after two years of celibacy. Conversely, Mel and Luke, and Rachel and Steven, were experiencing difficulties. Mel still hadn’t felt a spark with Luke, leading to an undeniably awkward dynamic. Rachel and Steven were both making an effort, but Steven’s insensitive comments continued to hurt Rachel’s feelings.
The most dramatic moment occurred during Bec and Danny’s picturesque Fiji honeymoon. While things were going well, Danny admitted to Bec that he didn’t feel sexual chemistry between them after they were intimate, leaving Bec devastated. The situation escalated when Bec accused Danny of spending the entire day staring at another woman staying at their accommodation.
In a candid conversation, Bec shared the profound impact of this experience.
This episode also introduced us to the eldest contestants, Rebecca and Steve, both in their 50s, seeking a second chance at love after previous marriages. Their journey so far appeared promising.
Episode 3 Recap (February 4): Prison Jokes and Skeptical Grooms
Episode three saw the introduction of Bec and Danny. They seemed to have a strong connection until Danny made a joke about being bailed out of prison. For Bec, who had previously been engaged, this was a sensitive topic. However, a heartfelt conversation with Danny managed to win her over. We also met Chris, MAFS‘ most sceptical groom, who believed the experts were a joke. Despite his cynicism, he seemed impressed by the arrival of model Brook, hinting that perhaps she might make him a believer in the experiment after all.
Episode 2 Recap (February 3): The Case of the Missing Rings
Episode two delivered a rather unusual wedding scenario: not a runaway bride, but a very, very late groom. On the morning of his wedding, Luke Fournitis realised he’d forgotten the rings and had to turn back. By the time he arrived at the venue, his bride, Mel Akbay, was already waiting at the end of the aisle. While Luke hoped Mel would overlook the mishap, she was decidedly unimpressed, even telling a publication that she felt the day was “ruined.” Whether they can overcome these frosty initial feelings remains to be seen.

The next couple to walk down the aisle were Scott McCristal and Gia Fleur. Experts described them as having the “highest level of sexual chemistry that we’ve ever seen” on the show. There was an undeniable spark during their wedding, though Gia expressed concern that Scott might not be interested once he discovered she had a daughter. Fortunately, Scott was unbothered and expressed excitement about getting to know Gia and her daughter.

Episode 1 Recap (February 2): First Sparks and Awkward Beginnings
Just one day into Married At First Sight 2026, and the emotions, feelings, and disasters are already in full swing. In the premiere episode, our first bride, Alissa Fay, initially refused to marry her groom, David Momoh. However, after he got down on one knee and proposed properly, she accepted, and the pair began to get to know each other, feeling a spark. We also met Rachel Gilmore and Steven Danyluk, who, after years of dating struggles, seemed to hit it off despite an initially awkward start.
Later in the week, we were set to meet Luke Fourniotis, a groom entering the experiment after grappling with the grief of his father’s death and a past relationship breakdown. He later shared why this personal journey made his MAFS experience more challenging.
Adelaide socialite bride Bec Zacharia was also introduced. Speaking about her experience, she revealed that this wasn’t her first engagement and shared the real reason her initial engagement fell through.
Who’s Paired Up on MAFS 2026?
This season’s cast is a diverse bunch! While we’ve got the full list of MAFS 2026 brides and grooms, we’ve so far seen a number of couples tie the knot:
David and Alissa: Alissa certainly likes to take charge, famously declaring she wouldn’t marry David until he proposed on one knee. Despite facing criticism from fellow contestants like Gia, who questioned her “theatrics,” Alissa seems unfazed and focused on her relationship. The question remains: can their bond withstand the external chatter?

Rachel and Steven: Their wedding was a lively affair, with Rachel’s infectious laughter setting a cheerful tone. However, early on, it became apparent that Rachel and Steven might be destined for the friend zone. Rachel is clearly seeking more from her husband and is willing to work for it, but Steven’s awkwardness and apparent inability to see her romantically could prove to be their downfall.

Luke and Mel: Luke’s tardiness and forgotten rings at his own wedding put a dampener on his relationship with Mel right from the start. Still holding a grudge about being left waiting, Mel has been dismissive and critical of her husband. During the first Commitment Ceremony, the experts called out Mel’s behaviour, and she vowed to give the relationship a genuine chance. The crucial question is: will she keep her word, and can they overcome their initial hurdles?

Bec and Danny: Despite initial struggles with sexual chemistry after their honeymoon intimacy, things are looking up for Bec and Danny, particularly after Revelations Week. The challenges presented by the experts helped them break down barriers and work through their issues, putting them back on track, much to Bec’s relief. However, with ongoing friction between Bec and Gia, can Bec maintain her focus on building a solid foundation with Danny and block out the negativity?

Gia and Scott: Gia and Scott have been inseparable and intensely attracted to each other since day one, showing no signs of slowing down. They appear to be a perfect match, connecting on every level. With a clear determination to be this season’s success story, can anything break them, or are they destined to go the distance?

Chris and Brook: Brook and Chris, who has already been labelled the season’s villain, had a rocky start, and there’s little indication things will improve. In a significant development, Brook has confirmed she is pregnant and engaged to her ex-boyfriend, Harry. She expressed her joy at being with a supportive partner. With his MAFS wife having announced her happy news and confirmed their separation, Chris is stepping away from the show to focus on himself, stating he wants to push forward in life and pursue his interests.

Rebecca and Steve: This season’s more mature couple, Rebecca and Steve, had a picture-perfect wedding ceremony. However, during the Revelations Week challenge, Steve revealed that things were far from ideal. While Rebecca seems ready to commit, her husband is not on the same page, creating a significant disconnect. Can they find common ground, or is this relationship headed for an unhappy ending?

Julia and Grayson: Considered one of the experiment’s strongest couples, Julia and Grayson hit it off immediately. Julia’s revelation of her bisexuality to Grayson during their reception was met with supportive acceptance. However, at the first Commitment Ceremony, Grayson surprised Julia by stating he felt their relationship was being dictated by her, as she preferred a slower pace in building their connection. Julia appeared taken aback by this confession, marking the first visible cracks in their seemingly flawless facade. Can they navigate this initial challenge?

Stella and Filip: Despite initial concerns from Stella’s friends about Filip’s true intentions, the newlyweds have dismissed these doubts and are now vying for the title of this season’s strongest couple. However, not everyone is convinced. The couple’s overt displays of affection, coupled with Stella’s admission of already discussing baby names, have irked Brook and Gia. Can Stella and Filip tune out the critics and maintain their strong bond?
