A storm has brewed at the latest Married At First Sight dinner party, with allegations surfacing that contestant Danny Hewitt made comments about fellow participant Gia Fleur, suggesting she was his “type” – a claim that has sent shockwaves through his marriage to Bec Zaharia. The controversy first erupted when Brook Crompton brought forward a claim that Danny had uttered these potentially damaging words to Gia during a casual night out with cast members, away from the watchful eyes of the cameras. This revelation immediately struck a nerve with Bec, who had previously voiced her suspicions about Danny’s interest in Gia. Despite Danny’s staunch denials, Bec was visibly distressed by the accusation, leading to a heated confrontation at the dinner party.

During the tense dinner party, Brook recounted the alleged incident, stating that Danny had told Gia she was “100% his type” during an unfilmed outing the Saturday prior. However, he admitted to feeling a sense of embarrassment, or “cringe,” upon rewatching the episode. He confessed that he hadn’t handled the situation as well as he could have, particularly his frustration with Bec’s reaction.
“I dealt with it horrendously,” Danny conceded, acknowledging that his anger towards Bec for believing Gia was not the most constructive approach.
In a surprising and bold move, Danny offered to take a lie detector test to definitively prove his innocence. “I’ll do a deal with you now, get a lie detector in here, get me in here, get Gia in here,” he proposed.

Gia’s Perspective and Regrets
Gia has consistently maintained that her exchange with Danny did indeed occur, asserting that Brook was present and heard the entire conversation. She explained that she had initially been hesitant to bring the matter up at the dinner party, wanting to maintain a positive relationship with Bec. However, Brook’s decision to make the alleged comment public changed the situation.
“If they’re going good, I thought this is genuinely stupid to bring up,” Gia told TV Week. “And he could have just been drunk – not that that’s an excuse – but the night of the Dinner Party Danny was stirring me and Brook, so Brook said, ‘I’m going to say it.’ I said not to, but she did and that’s when it absolutely kicked off.”
Despite her insistence on the truth of the interaction, Gia has since expressed some regret regarding her behaviour and the overall dynamics within the female cast. “I think all of us girls were pretty catty throughout the experiment and looking back now, there’s a lot of things I wish I didn’t do. I’m not proud of that behaviour,” she admitted to Nine. The fallout from this dinner party incident has undoubtedly cast a shadow over the remaining weeks of the experiment for Danny, Bec, and Gia.
