As the final week of Married at First Sight (MAFS) unfolded, the remaining participants found themselves in a whirlwind of emotions, dramatic confrontations, and unexpected twists. From the high-stakes Dinner Party to the emotional Final Vows and the infamous Reunion, this was a week that left everyone on edge.
TV WEEK had the chance to speak with participants Stella and Scott, who shared their insights into what really happened behind the scenes. Their stories revealed a mix of fake friendships, shocking betrayals, and even allegations of stalking, making for one of the most intense weeks in the show’s history.
The Drama of the Final Dinner Party
The Final Dinner Party proved to be a hotbed of tension and drama. For Scott, the event was particularly unsettling. “Right before the final Dinner Party, I went to Bondi Westfield to get some clothes and production called me and said, ‘Gia is on her way.’ She was stalking me. She was trying to win me over to convince me to make her look good on camera. Then she whipped out a written speech at the table… my hands were shaking.”
Stella also had her own share of drama during the event. “For me, it was Danny leading Bec on. As a fellow woman, I’ve been led on in my relationships and it sucks.” Her comments highlighted the complex dynamics between the participants, where personal connections often blurred with the pressures of the show.
Reflections on the Final Vows
As the group approached the Final Vows, the atmosphere was a mix of anticipation and anxiety. Stella described feeling “very relaxed” and ready to take on the real world. “We had tested the connection in so many possible ways. But I was happy to wrap up filming and get back into life because, while you’re filming, you do lose a little bit of yourself.”
Her sentiment reflected the emotional toll of the experience, as participants grappled with the reality of stepping away from the spotlight and into their everyday lives.
The Wild Revelations of the Reunion
The Reunion brought with it some of the most shocking revelations of the season. Stella shared that Alissa and David’s relationship had its fair share of issues. “David should have been a bit more open and spoken up about the things he didn’t like about Alissa, instead of exploding at the last minute. And there’s going to be some drama revealed about text messages between a bride and another groom.”
Scott added, “When we were played back behind-the-scenes moments of ‘someone’s’ behaviour.” These moments hinted at the hidden tensions and secrets that had simmered beneath the surface throughout the season.
Will Rachel and Steven Last?
As the season came to an end, questions remained about the future of certain couples. Scott expressed his thoughts on Rachel and Steven. “Throughout the experiment I was thinking to myself, ‘I don’t know about these two,’ because they’re very quiet and I don’t think they get out much. At the same time, watching the show I’m like, ‘These two are really good together; they actually are quite a good match. They’re both weird, but in a good way! Those two people should last.’”
His comments suggested that despite their initial reservations, the couple had the potential to build a lasting relationship beyond the show.
