Harry Styles Joins Marcello Hernández for Hilarious Sebastian Maniscalco Impression on SNL
Marcello Hernández, a standout cast member since joining Saturday Night Live in Season 48, has consistently impressed with his comedic range, evolving from a primarily stand-up performer to a master of character work. His recurring impression of fellow comedian Sebastian Maniscalco has become a fan favorite, and in the March 14th episode, he enlisted none other than global superstar Harry Styles to join in on the fun. The “Aperture” singer fully committed to the bit, and the real Sebastian Maniscalco himself offered a memorable and amusing reaction to their joint efforts.
This wasn’t Hernández’s first foray into impersonating Maniscalco on SNL. Previously, he portrayed the comedian at a bachelor party, a sketch that even saw Glen Powell trying his hand at the impression. This latest iteration placed Hernández’s Maniscalco in a courtroom setting, this time as a defense attorney.

The sketch, titled “New Lawyer,” featured Styles as a prosecutor preparing to present his case. However, the presiding judge, played by Kenan Thompson, delivered a warning: the public defender standing against Styles’ character was none other than the “world-famous comedian” Sebastian Maniscalco. The judge’s assurance that the defendant would be “nothing like what you’ve seen on TV” proved to be ironically untrue.
Hernández, embodying Maniscalco, burst into the courtroom with his signature energetic delivery and distinct mannerisms. He explained his new profession with characteristic flair, stating, “You’re not gonna believe dis: I’m a lawyer now. I went to night school and I passed the test. I canceled a gig to be here, and my agent was like, ‘Why would you do that?'”
As Maniscalco paced behind Styles’ prosecutor character, he launched into a comedic tangent about an alleged theft of clothing, showcasing his ability to weave humor into even the most mundane details. The deadpan delivery of the court stenographer, played by Jane Wickline, provided a perfect counterpoint to Hernández’s animated performance. Hernández also demonstrated impressive physical comedy, even jumping over Wickline at one point in the sketch.

The prosecutor, increasingly flustered by Maniscalco’s captivating courtroom presence, exclaimed, “This is crazy! You’re all just captivated by the way Sebastian Maniscalco is talking. Like… What if I talk like that?” This was the cue for Harry Styles to fully embrace the impression. He adopted Maniscalco’s distinctive speaking style and mimicked his energetic, high-stepping gait with outstretched arms, much to the delight of the audience and viewers at home.
The fan reaction on social media was overwhelmingly positive. Comments on SNL‘s YouTube video highlighted the success of the impression:
- “Harry doing that Sebastian impression was freaking hilarious.”
- “Incredible work by everyone here. Marcello doing an entire workout, Harry doing a full send and knocking it out of the park, and honorable mention for Jeremy going ‘ooooh’ and Kenan tapping his mouth to shut him up with that little smirk on his face.”
- “HE WENT ALL IN AND WE LOVE HIM FOR IT,” one passionate fan declared, echoing a widely shared sentiment about Styles’ commitment to the role.
Sebastian Maniscalco’s Amused Reaction
The real Sebastian Maniscalco didn’t miss a beat in responding to the sketch. On March 15th, he shared the clip on his Instagram story and offered his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter).
Maniscalco humorously reflected on his SNL appearances, noting, “I’ve been on SNL twice now, which sounds impressive until I tell you neither time was as the host. At this point, Harry and Marcello have logged more rehearsal time as me than I have. Both of them were hilarious and absolutely nailed it. Maybe the third time I come in and do it myself.”
While Maniscalco’s suggestion of appearing on SNL to impersonate himself is an entertaining prospect, it’s worth noting a slight technical correction: he has, in fact, been impersonated on SNL three times. His first appearance in an impression was during Season 50’s “Wicked Auditions” sketch. Nevertheless, his good-natured response to Styles and Hernández’s latest portrayal underscores the comedic success of the “New Lawyer” sketch.
