Mudgee Race Guide: Sunday Tips & Preview

Race 1

  1. Coyote

Coyote has shown consistent form with two straight thirds at Newcastle in his first two races back from a spell. He faced strong competition at Rosehill last time out and finished 10th, but was only 2.8 lengths behind the impressive winner Barrengarry. This performance suggests solid potential for a race like this, and Coyote has the opportunity to break through with another victory.

  2. Disco Prince

Disco Prince managed to place in the top positions at Tamworth two starts back and followed it up with a fourth-place finish at Muswellbrook. He is expected to run a forward race in this event.

  3. Real Housewives

Real Housewives struggled at Dubbo when finishing eighth two runs ago, but she bounced back with a strong victory at Armidale. She remains a contender in this race and deserves attention.

  4. Tokyo Queen

Tokyo Queen has been held back in her two starts since resuming from a spell but shows signs of improvement. Her potential should not be overlooked.

  3. Dekka’s Latest

A former Victorian horse returning from a long spell for a new stable, Dekka’s Latest could be competitive without being a surprise.

How to Play It:

  • Dunquin – WIN

Race 3

  1. Fierceness

  2. Marinera

Marinera is making her first start for a new stable and showed enough on debut to be given a chance in this race.

  3. The Magnet

The Magnet finished third at Wyong in her last start and could repeat that performance to secure a minor prize.

  4. Strassman

Strassman improved on a down-the-track effort at Dubbo by finishing second at Warren. A placing would not be surprising.

How to Play It:

  • Fierceness – WIN

Race 4

Long Live ran fourth on debut at Kembla Grange and followed it up with a fourth-place finish at Goulburn. He appears well-placed for this race.

  2. Six Kings

  3. Castro

Castro had four consecutive placings at Dubbo before finishing fifth at Orange in his latest start. He can return to the placings against these competitors.

  2. Girrawheen

Girrawheen ran a gallant race for a last-start second at Scone behind Shotgun Bella. If she performs to that level, she will be hard to beat.

  3. West Head

West Head won a couple of races at Coonamble and Narromine last June. He hasn’t raced since finishing sixth at Narromine in September and is worth watching fresh.
