New Comedy Series Starring Nicola Walker Set to Premiere
Nicola Walker, the acclaimed British actress known for her roles in dramas such as Unforgotten and The Split, is set to star in a brand new comedy series that promises to be a must-watch. The show, titled Alice and Steve, is created by the same team behind the Netflix hit Baby Reindeer and will be available on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States.
In Alice and Steve, Walker plays Alice, a woman who is devastated when she discovers that her best friend, Steve (played by Jemaine Clement), is dating her 26-year-old daughter, Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith). Faced with the possibility of losing both her daughter and her lifelong friend, Alice takes it upon herself to break up the relationship. However, Steve is not going down without a fight, leading to an “all-out feud” between the two characters.
The show’s synopsis describes it as a “hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, family, and love.” It poses the question: “How far would you go for love—or revenge?” The series delves into the complexities of relationships, offering a fresh take on the romantic comedy genre.

The cast also includes Joel Fry, Marcia Warren, Tyrese Eaton-Dyce, Ebony Aboagye, and Eilidh Fisher. This marks a comedic shift for Walker, who has previously been associated with more serious roles. In Unforgotten, she portrayed DCI Cassie Stuart, working alongside DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) to solve cold cases. She starred in the series from 2015 until 2021, after which she moved on to play divorce lawyer Hannah Stern in The Split from 2018 to 2024.
BBC Comedy Returns for Another Season
Meanwhile, another beloved BBC comedy is set to make a return. Mammoth, which first aired in 2024, is set to return for a third series this June. The show, starring Mike Bubbins as Tony Mammoth, follows the story of a 1970s PE teacher who is brought back from the dead after being preserved in ice during an avalanche. Now living in the modern day, Tony struggles to adapt to the 21st century while trying to maintain his 1970s lifestyle.
The second series of Mammoth was released last year, followed by a Christmas special that received widespread acclaim. Fans have praised the show for its humor and unique premise, with many calling it “laugh out loud” funny. One viewer wrote, “Watched it all in one sitting, it’s funny,” while another said, “I had to pause it several times in the first 15 minutes as I was laughing out loud crying so much.”
Mike Bubbins, who also co-wrote the show, expressed his excitement about the upcoming series, saying, “It’s been amazing to see how audiences have got behind this show. They’ve clearly got great taste! So, it’s a no-brainer to get Mammoth, the big character with the even bigger moustache back to create more laughs.”

BBC Director of Comedy Jon Petrie added, “It’s been thrilling to see audiences tune in in impressive numbers and quickly embrace Tony Mammoth’s timeless charm. Mike Bubbins, Paul Doolan and the BBC Studios team delivered a fantastic sitcom packed with laughs, and we can’t wait to see more of Mammoth’s retro antics.”
With its mix of humor, heart, and unexpected twists, Alice and Steve and Mammoth are set to captivate audiences once again. Whether you’re a fan of comedies or looking for something new, these shows offer a fresh and entertaining experience.
