‘No one’s been willing to massage it out for him’ Travis Head explaining Mitch Marsh’s injury against Ireland went viral

The adrenaline during the South Africa and Afghanistan match made the fans miss the dopamine of the Australia-Ireland toss. Notably, Travis Head was leading the team as the replacement captain in place of Mitchell Marsh. Travis Head was captaining the side for the third time and left a banger on the mic.

It is very obvious that Head will be delivering stuff in a very nonchalant way, as he did while informing Marsh’s absence from the match. During the toss, he informed that Marsh picked up a blow while bowling and, “no one’s gonna massage him out.” Quoting Head, it said,

“Mitchy Marsh copped a blow while training a couple of days ago, and no one’s been willing to massage it out for him. He’s the unfortunate one.”

This caught the presenter breaking into a laugh.

What happened to Mitchel Marsh?

On February 8, during a training session at Colombo, Marsh was struck with a wanger on his groin by the throwdown specialist and a former Aussie, Matthew Wade. A later scan revealed that he sustained internal testicular bleeding.

It significantly restricted his movements. Cricket Australia claimed that he suffered from intense pain. However, the management was still hopeful. However, just before 30 minutes from the toss, Marsh was ruled out from the February 11 match against Ireland.

In such a situation, veteran batter Steve Smith, who was initially left out of the 15-man squad, has been flown to Sri Lanka as a precautionary cover. If Marsh is ruled out for the entire tournament, Smith will likely be officially added as his permanent replacement.

Marsh is considered “unlikely” to be fit for Australia’s next match against Zimbabwe on Friday, February 13, 2026. His return to the tournament will depend on medical advice and the resolution of his symptoms.
