Olivia Dean, a 27-year-old singer, has shared her insights on how she manages to stay grounded despite the whirlwind of her rising career. She recalls that her mother suggested she apply to the school to pursue her passion for music. It was a turning point for her, as it was the first time she felt accepted for who she was. Before attending the BRIT School, she had struggled with feeling embarrassed and like she was “too much” in her previous school environment.
“I would eat my lunch alone in the toilets,” she said. “But at the BRIT School, it allowed me to free myself from feeling embarrassed about who I was.”
Emotional Maturity and Authenticity
Olivia’s emotional maturity and authenticity are evident in her work, particularly in her album The Art of Loving. The album reflects her growth and understanding of relationships and love. She describes her hit song “Man I Need” as a “call to action” for men to step up and be the best they can be for women.
“I’ve been in therapy for a long time,” she said. “It has allowed me to have self-awareness and understand that I really don’t have time to fester in negative emotions toward love and men. It doesn’t serve me.”

For Olivia, success isn’t measured by the number of awards or the speed at which her tours sell out. Instead, she defines it by the number of people she can gather in one space and the impact she can make.
This philosophy has led her to take a stand against exorbitant ticket prices. She has demanded that Ticketmaster refund overcharged fans and cap prices, hoping to inspire other artists to do the same.
“There is no way that I’m going to get up on that stage and sing my heart out while somebody sits at home and makes $500 or $600 off of me and you,” she said. “I want people to be able to afford to come to the show.”
Industry Criticism and Fan Reactions
Olivia’s stance comes at a time when other artists, such as Harry Styles, have faced criticism for high ticket prices. For example, tickets for his Together Together tour range from £44 to £466.24 for seats, with VIP packages costing up to £725. Fans have expressed frustration, calling the pricing “greedy” and “out of touch.”
Similarly, Oasis faced backlash for their 2025 reunion tour, with standard ticket prices rising from £148 to over £350. This controversy prompted a UK watchdog to investigate the use of dynamic ticket pricing.
