Panhandler’s Sports Car Stuns Deputies, Leads to Arrest

Cross-Country Journey Ends in Arrest: Couple Accused of Begging for Funds in Stolen Sports Car

A cross-country road trip, allegedly funded by begging and conducted in a stolen luxury vehicle, came to an abrupt halt this week in Colorado. A 21-year-old woman and her male companion were apprehended in Craig, Colorado, following a call from concerned grocery store employees.

The incident began Tuesday when staff at a local grocery store contacted emergency services to report a young woman persistently soliciting money from customers. Employees expressed that her actions were causing a disturbance and making shoppers uncomfortable.

Responding to the call was a lieutenant from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, the lieutenant engaged in a conversation with the woman. She explained that she was experiencing financial difficulties and needed assistance to return home to her mother. In an act of compassion, the lieutenant provided her with a small amount of cash.

However, what transpired next raised further suspicion. The lieutenant observed the woman walk across the store’s parking lot and enter the passenger side of what was described as a “very expensive sports car.” This observation prompted the lieutenant to run the vehicle’s license plate. The results were alarming: the car had been reported stolen out of Oregon, with the theft allegedly involving violent circumstances.

The sports car was subsequently pulled over shortly after leaving the grocery store’s premises. A K9 unit was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia, which later tested positive for fentanyl.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Neo Gabrielsen, was taken into custody along with his passenger, 21-year-old Fallon Frederick.

Further investigation into the contents of the stolen vehicle uncovered a significant piece of evidence: a diary belonging to Frederick. This journal meticulously documented the couple’s extensive travels across multiple states, all while utilizing the stolen sports car. Within its pages, Frederick allegedly detailed how the pair had systematically deceived and exploited individuals by soliciting money throughout their journey. The press release from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office characterized the diary as “one of the more helpful pieces of evidence we’ve seen in a while.”

While the specific make and model of the high-end sports car were not disclosed, authorities confirmed it was reported stolen from Washington County, Oregon. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office is actively collaborating with their counterparts in Washington County to facilitate the vehicle’s return to its rightful owner.

Both Gabrielsen and Frederick are currently being held in the Moffat County jail, according to MCSO Sheriff Chip McIntyre. They are facing local charges related to auto theft. In addition to these charges, they are also awaiting extradition to Oregon, where they will face further legal proceedings concerning the original theft and any associated offenses. Their alleged cross-country escapade, which appears to have involved deceit and criminal activity, has now concluded with their arrest and the prospect of facing justice in multiple jurisdictions.
