With the score tied at 1-1 and the clock ticking towards the final whistle, Justen Glad played a perfectly weighted ball ahead to Spierings. Without hesitation, Spierings unleashed a powerful first-touch shot from well outside the penalty area. The ball rocketed into the back of the net in the 88th minute, giving Real Salt Lake a crucial 2-1 lead that they would ultimately hold.
