RUBBERBAND: Moss Center Ignited

Get ready for an electrifying and unpredictable performance as the Montreal-based RUBBERBAND Dance Company takes the stage. This dynamic collective, known for its unique and compelling movement vocabulary, will present Ever So Slightly Redux on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

A Prescient Vision of Modern Life

Originally choreographed by Victor Quijada in 2018, Ever So Slightly Redux has taken on a profound and, some might say, prophetic resonance in the years since its creation. Long before the global upheavals of the COVID-19 pandemic, Quijada’s work was already exploring themes of urgency and chaotic energy. Both critics and Quijada himself have noted how the production’s intense atmosphere feels “eerily prescient” when viewed through the lens of recent global events. The piece delves into the fundamental behavioral mechanisms and instinctive reflexes that humans develop to navigate and withstand the constant barrage of irritants inherent in modern daily life.

Fusing Strength and Sensitivity

The performance features a remarkable ensemble of 10 dancer-athletes who skillfully embody the struggles and adaptations of the human spirit. Through their powerful and nuanced artistry, these performers evoke a deep-seated longing for moments of calm amidst the overwhelming sea of chaos that defines much of contemporary existence. Ever So Slightly Redux is a testament to fostering resilience in the face of relentless uncertainty and the ceaseless demands of our fast-paced world. Quijada’s signature style is on full display, masterfully blending the grace of classical ballet with the raw energy of breakdance and the narrative depth of dance theatre. This fusion creates a unique and captivating experience that is both delicate and ferociously powerful.
