Rylan Clark Reveals “Traumatic” Recent Cosmetic Procedure
Rylan Clark, the beloved 37-year-old presenter, has opened up about a recent cosmetic procedure that he described as a “traumatic” experience. The candid confession came during his BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday, when a colleague playfully questioned his noticeably refreshed appearance.
Sally Boazman, 68, who is responsible for the traffic reports on Rylan’s show, directly addressed the presenter, saying, “You’re looking very good these days. Have you gone under the knife recently?”
Rylan, known for his open and honest approach to his public persona, admitted, “Weirdly, I had something done yesterday, which was, ugh, such a trauma, I’m not gonna lie, what I had done.” When pressed by Sally for more details, Rylan was hesitant to elaborate on air, stating, “I won’t go into it over the radio, because it was just quite invasive on the faces! Yeah, it was very invasive.”
The episode also saw Rylan joined by Mollie King and Matt Edmondson, who were on hand to discuss their podcast, “Novel Idea,” and for Matt to showcase his impressive magic skills.
This isn’t the first time Rylan has been open about his cosmetic enhancements. He has previously been very transparent about his journey with various procedures. In 2013, he famously revealed he had spent a significant £25,000 on veneers. His past tweakments also include lip fillers, Botox, and further dental work aimed at achieving a more natural look for his teeth.
Reflecting on his past decisions, Rylan has acknowledged that he may have “gone a bit overboard” with some procedures. However, he maintains that he has no regrets, viewing each experience as a valuable learning curve.
He has stated in previous interviews, “I don’t regret anything I’ve done. I’ll probably still have more things done. I think if you’re in a position where you want to change something, and you think it will make you feel better, and you can do that, then do it. I don’t think you should be judged for that. Do I think sometimes in the past I’ve gone a bit too far? Yeah. Do I realise now that I don’t have to go as far as that? Yeah, so, I don’t.”
Rylan’s Potential Move to “Strictly Come Dancing”
Beyond his radio commitments, Rylan’s popularity has soared over the past six years, leading to speculation that he could be in line to become the next host of the popular BBC dancing competition, “Strictly Come Dancing.”
Sources close to the show suggest that producers are keen to introduce a fresh presenting line-up that possesses strong connections to “Strictly.” The aim is to find a dynamic duo with excellent chemistry, free from the “baggage” of past associations.
The Ideal “Strictly” Pairing?
Insiders have indicated that Rylan is a strong contender, particularly for his potential pairing with “The One Show” host Angela Scanlon, who participated in “Strictly Come Dancing” in 2023. This pairing is reportedly seen as a perfect fit by the show’s bosses.
A source told the Daily Mail: “Rylan has a long-standing association with the show, and Angela has been a contestant. But the main thing is they’d be a totally new pairing – no baggage, no former shows, uniquely Strictly.”
The report also highlighted that the BBC is keen to avoid reverting to a traditional male-female presenting format where the male host dominates. Rylan is seen as an ideal candidate who would not fall into this pattern. His genuine passion for the show and his existing rapport with viewers are considered significant advantages.
It is understood that Rylan would be incredibly enthusiastic about taking on the role, with insiders suggesting he would “bite the BBC’s hand off” for the opportunity. His previous success hosting “It Takes Two” between 2019 and 2023, along with his extensive experience presenting for the BBC and ITV, including Eurovision coverage and his own Saturday show on Radio 2, makes him a well-qualified candidate.
