Scottie Scheffler Brings New Family Member to the Masters
Scottie Scheffler has made his way to the Masters with a special surprise – his second son, Remy. The golfer and his wife, Meredith, welcomed their second child just nine days ago, yet the entire family arrived at Augusta National on Sunday ahead of what promises to be a significant week in golf.
Doug Ferguson, a reporter for Associated Press, shared the news on social media, tweeting: ‘The little fella is 9 days old and already at the Masters.’ This revelation came as a shock to many, as Scheffler is known for keeping his personal life private. It was unexpected for the world No 1 to arrive in Georgia with an additional family member.
Previously, Scheffler had withdrawn from the Texas Children’s Hospital Houston Open on March 24 for unspecified ‘family reasons,’ but he had not publicly discussed the pregnancy. The Schefflers welcomed their first child, Bennett, in May 2024, and he was even seen swinging a set of plastic golf clubs at a recent tournament in Phoenix.

Scheffler has spoken about his hopes that Bennett will one day become a golfer. However, he humorously mentioned to reporters last year that his son ‘doesn’t know what a golf ball is’ and enjoys ‘eating his golf club.’ He expressed his hope that Bennett could one day get into golf, saying, ‘You know, the game of golf taught me a tremendous amount… you learn a lot of good life lessons by playing golf. So I hope he can play it one day and I hope he enjoys it as much as I do.’
Bennett was born shortly before the PGA Championship at Valhalla, with Scheffler traveling home to be with Meredith before returning to play in the major. At that tournament, he opened up about his emotions as a new dad, admitting, ‘I had pretty high expectations of what I would feel like… and those are far exceeded.’

He added that it was a ‘pretty amazing feeling,’ but that he had struggled leaving home to focus on golf. It remains to be seen how Scheffler will perform at this year’s Masters, his first tournament as a father of two.
In last year’s tournament, he ended the week by putting a green jacket on Rory McIlroy after finishing fourth. However, Scheffler has consistently performed well at Augusta since his first of two wins in 2022, never falling outside the top 10 of the finishing leaderboard. He is among the favorites to claim another green jacket next week.
