A Community in Turmoil
Residents of Broomhill Road in Bulwell are struggling to cope with the ongoing chaos caused by frequent house parties. What was once a peaceful neighborhood has turned into a living nightmare for many, with sleepless nights and constant disturbances. The problem is primarily driven by teenage-led Airbnb gatherings, which have become a regular occurrence on weekends.
The Impact on Residents
For families living in the area, the situation has become unbearable. One family, who live next door to the property, described feeling unsafe and effectively trapped during these events. They claim that the noise and behavior of the partygoers have created an atmosphere of anxiety and fear.
Videos captured during these parties show large groups of people gathering both inside and outside the house, which is available for rent on platforms like Booking.com and Airbnb. These gatherings often involve loud music, banging on walls, and even peeking through windows, making it difficult for nearby residents to find any peace.

A History of Disruption
The issue has been ongoing for several years. In late 2025, police were called to disperse four parties at the property. After this, the landlord implemented stricter vetting processes for guests. However, despite these efforts, the problem has persisted.
Realwood Homes, the company managing the property, reported that some individuals managed to book the rooms twice, but only succeeded in holding the others after stealing a key. Things seemed to quiet down in recent months, but on March 21, teenagers returned and attempted to enter the property before hosting a party outside, which was eventually broken up by officers.

Personal Accounts of Distress
Scott Piatkowski, an 18-year-old resident, expressed his concerns about the safety of his family. He mentioned that the parties often spill out onto the street and into the back garden, making it impossible to leave the house during emergencies.
His family has lived in the area for nine years and has experienced increasing levels of anxiety with each subsequent party. “We didn’t think too much about it the first time, the second time we got more anxious and the third time we were quite upset because we couldn’t sleep,” he said. “We’re pretty sure we heard banging on our door at one point.”
Michelle Varney, a civil servant who has lived in the area for six years, initially wasn’t too bothered by the parties. However, she now believes that the landlord and authorities should take stronger action to shut them down. She highlighted the noise and the use of fireworks, which disturb elderly neighbors and create a hostile environment.
Efforts to Control the Situation
Okechukwu Nsirim, a director at Realwood Homes, explained that only two guests were booked in on the night of the first party last year. However, they arrived with a group of young people, prompting the police to be called. The company now checks in guests themselves to ensure that the same individuals do not return.
Nsirim also mentioned that the guests never book under their own names, making it challenging to control who enters the property. Despite these measures, the problem has not been fully resolved. Last week, another attempt was made to enter the house, resulting in a party in the street.
Community Reaction
Darren Wheater-Lowe, who lives opposite the house with his wife and two children, described the experience as intimidating. He noted that massive groups of people gather outside, creating an atmosphere of antisocial behavior and intimidation.
“The youths are hanging around causing mayhem. It’s fine for the people who go to the parties and leave but it’s us that have got to deal with the aftermath,” he said. “I think it should be shut down, the owner should be contacted.”
Measures Being Taken
Airbnb has introduced new technology aimed at preventing disruptive parties. This machine learning-powered system assesses various signals to identify high-risk bookings and either blocks them or redirects guests to alternative listings.
Nottinghamshire Police have also taken notice of the situation. Officers have advised the landlord and are considering further measures if the parties continue. PS Katie Taylor emphasized the importance of addressing anti-social behavior and encouraged residents to report any concerns.
Looking Ahead
As the community continues to grapple with the impact of these parties, there is a growing demand for stronger action from both the landlord and local authorities. The situation highlights the need for better regulation and enforcement to protect the rights of residents and maintain a safe and peaceful environment.
