Soap Icon Susan Lucci, 79, Glows with Timeless Elegance in New York

A Timeless Presence on and Off the Screen

Susan Lucci, a name synonymous with glamour and longevity in the world of television, recently made headlines as she attended a taping of The Drew Barrymore Show in New York City. At 79, the legendary actress continues to capture attention with her timeless style and poise.

Lucci’s appearance was a masterclass in understated elegance. She opted for a simple yet stylish outfit that included a pair of leggings paired with a bright yellow top that flowed gracefully around her waist. To add a touch of sophistication, she chose a pair of designer stilettos from Christian Dior. Her ensemble was completed with a grey Birkin handbag and oversized sunglasses, making a statement without trying too hard.

The weather was notably breezy, prompting Lucci to wrap herself in an oversized Moncler puffer jacket that reportedly cost around $3,600. This choice not only provided warmth but also added a layer of luxury to her look.

A New Role on the Horizon

Despite her fame in soap operas, Lucci is stepping into a new chapter with her upcoming role in the Apple TV+ film Outcome. This black comedy, written and directed by Jonah Hill, follows an actor who finds himself entangled in a blackmail scheme while trying to maintain his sobriety. The film features a stellar cast including Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, and David Spade.

After appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Lucci transformed into a strapless blue gown for the premiere of Outcome. The figure-hugging dress, adorned with pink floral details, highlighted her natural beauty and grace.

Navigating Grief and Memory

Lucci has been open about the emotional challenges she has faced since the passing of her husband, Helmut Huber, in 2022. The couple had been married for 52 years, and their bond was a cornerstone of her life. Huber passed away at the age of 84, just one month after suffering a stroke.

In a heartfelt conversation with People, Lucci described feeling “completely lost” and “so alone” after his death. She admitted that the pain still comes in waves, often catching her off guard. Holidays, in particular, remain difficult, as the absence of her husband at the family table is impossible to ignore.

“I don’t fight it,” she said. “I’m surprised sometimes by it. Certainly there are things like the holidays that are triggers—someone who should be sitting at the table. But I just go with it.”

When asked what she misses most about her late husband, Lucci responded simply, “Everything.” She added, “It’s hard to say one thing. I just miss him, miss his presence, miss sharing things together, like coffee in the morning.”

A Legacy Built on Love and Partnership

Lucci and Huber met while working at a hotel and were engaged after just three weeks of dating. They married in September 1969, and their partnership extended beyond their personal lives. Huber served as Lucci’s manager throughout much of her career and was the CEO of Pine Valley Productions, the company named after the fictional town where All My Children was set.

Lucci’s iconic portrayal of Erica Kane in All My Children began in 1970 and continued until the show ended in 2011. Beyond this role, she has appeared in other notable series such as Dallas, Hot in Cleveland, and Devious Maids. Her legacy remains a testament to her talent and enduring influence in the entertainment industry.
