Kevin Spacey Settles Civil Lawsuits Over Alleged Sexual Assaults
Three men who had accused Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assault have reached a settlement in their civil claims, averting a trial that was slated to commence in London’s High Court. Court documents revealed that the proceedings were halted after the parties involved agreed to undisclosed terms.
The allegations spanned a period between 2000 and 2013, with the claimants asserting that the Academy Award-winning star had subjected them to abuse during those years. Spacey has consistently denied all allegations.
Initially, civil trials were scheduled to begin later this year. However, case judge Christina Lambert issued an order last week to pause the proceedings, citing that the parties had “agreed to the terms of the settlement.” The judge’s directive stated, “By consent, it is ordered that all further proceedings against the defendant in these actions be stayed upon the terms set out in this order and in the confidential schedule.” The specifics of the settlement and any arrangements regarding legal costs were not made public. The order, dated March 13, was subsequently made public on Wednesday.
This development follows Spacey’s acquittal in a London criminal trial in 2023, where he faced nine alleged sex offences involving four male accusers. He was found not guilty on all counts.
It is understood that two of the three civil claimants, whose identities are protected by court orders, had provided evidence during Spacey’s criminal trial. Representatives for Kevin Spacey were approached for comment regarding the settlement.
