A New Chapter for Wythenshawe FC Vets
Wythenshawe FC Vets, a football team with a growing reputation, has made a significant addition to its squad by signing former Manchester United legend Antonio Valencia. This move has generated excitement among fans and highlights the club’s commitment to assembling a team of former Premier League stars.
The club has gained attention in recent months due to its impressive lineup, which includes players with over 1,800 top-flight appearances combined. Among the notable names are Stephen Ireland, Danny Drinkwater, and Papiss Cisse, who have all played for major clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, and Leicester City. These players regularly take part in matches for the ninth-tier side, contributing to the team’s success.
In October and November, Wythenshawe FC Vets captured headlines with a series of high-scoring victories. One standout performance was an 11-0 win against South Liverpool, where Cisse scored six goals. The team continues to attract attention with its blend of experience and talent.
Some of the other players involved include Ravel Morrison, Danny Simpson, Phil Bardsley, Dale Stephens, Glenn Whelan, Joleon Lescott, Danny Webber, Maynor Figueroa, Emile Heskey, and George Boyd. Each brings a wealth of experience from their respective careers.
Now, the club has added another name to its list of former Premier League stars with the signing of Antonio Valencia. The announcement was made through social media, where the club posted: ‘We’re proud to welcome Premier League winner, Antonio Valencia to Wythenshawe Vets. A Manchester United legend. Title winner. Now wearing our badge. Welcome to the club, Antonio!’
Valencia, who is 40 years old, joined Manchester United in 2009 from Wigan and spent a decade at Old Trafford, eventually becoming captain. He started as a winger and later transitioned into a full-back role, winning two Premier League titles and the FA Cup during his time at the club. The former Ecuador international has previously appeared for the club in midweek games this season, but the deal has now become permanent.

Wythenshawe FC Vets has amassed over 30,000 followers on TikTok, and the club continues to attract ex-Premier League talent. Even Wayne Rooney has expressed interest in playing for the team. Meanwhile, eight-time Olympic champion sprinter Usain Bolt has also shown interest in joining the club.
When asked by talkSPORT if he would join the club, Bolt responded: ‘Listen, I’m ready. I’m ready. If I get into some shape, I’m ready to go.’
The continued growth of Wythenshawe FC Vets reflects a unique blend of nostalgia and competitive spirit. As the team adds more legendary figures to its roster, it cements its status as a place where football history comes alive. Whether it’s through high-scoring matches or the inclusion of iconic players, the club is making waves in the football community.
