Stephani Sosa, a familiar face from her time on the troupe of Dancing With the Stars (DWTS), has openly discussed her past use of the weight loss medication, Ozempic. In a candid TikTok video posted on Saturday, January 10th, the 26-year-old dancer addressed growing speculation about her significant weight loss journey.
“People have been asking me if I’m on Ozempic, [and] I was on Ozempic when I was doing Dancing With the Stars last season,” Sosa revealed. She elaborated on her motivations, stating, “I just wanted to look as best as I [possibly] can. It was my first time living my dream on camera, and I just wanted it to be perfect.”
Sosa, who is the elder sister of fellow DWTS pro Ezra Sosa, was a participant in the show’s 33rd season, which aired in the spring of 2024. She was keen to clarify that while she did use Ozempic during that period, she is no longer taking the medication. “I feel like my body has handled that really well,” she added. “I was on it for a long time before getting on Dancing With the Stars as well.”
Understanding Ozempic and its Use
Ozempic, along with other similar medications such as Wegovy and Mounjaro, is primarily prescribed for the chronic management of weight in adults who are dealing with obesity or related health conditions. However, health professionals frequently advise against its use purely for aesthetic weight loss, particularly among public figures and celebrities. The drug’s intended use is for medical conditions, and its off-label application for cosmetic reasons has become a point of concern within the medical community and among the public.
Body Image and Personal Transformation
Stephani has also been commendably open about her personal struggles with body image. Prior to her time on DWTS, she underwent liposuction 360 in an effort to achieve her desired physique. “I just wanted to shape my body and I had a really hard time my whole life trying to get the body that I’ve always wanted,” she shared in a TikTok video in December 2024. She explained her decision stemmed from a desire to take control: “I wanted to do it for me and my career. I was so fed up with the industry telling me how my body should look [and] I was just so over it, and I needed to do it for me. So I did.”

Following her cosmetic procedure, Stephani remained committed to a rigorous fitness regimen and maintained a healthy diet. “My body completely changed, so it was a combination of that, and having a personal trainer, and eating relatively clean,” she concluded. She described the experience as transformative, stating, “It was the best decision I ever made; I feel like my life changed [and so did] my confidence, my happiness.”
Stepping Away from DWTS and Future Aspirations
Despite her positive experiences and the opportunities DWTS provided, Stephani confirmed that she would not be returning for the show’s 34th season troupe. “I will not be returning this season for their troupe,” she announced in a September 2025 Instagram post. She acknowledged the emotional difficulty of this decision, admitting, “Not going to lie, it’s been hard. This is a show I dreamed about for many, many years. I’m very excited for this new troupe coming in; you guys are going to KILL IT.”

While she mentioned being invited to participate in group numbers, the specifics remained uncertain at the time of her announcement. Looking ahead, Stephani expressed her enthusiasm for pursuing other career paths. “As for what’s next, I’m going to continue my career and focus on TV/Film and acting. I have a couple of projects I’m so excited to share with you guys! This show has changed my life. Thank you for all your love and support, especially being a Latina entering spaces for the first time; it means the world to me.”
In related news, Stephani’s brother, Ezra Sosa, had a successful run on DWTS Season 34, where he partnered with Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles. The duo achieved a commendable third-place finish in the competition.
