Taylor Swift has made a stunning return to the spotlight at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, securing seven awards out of nine nominations. This marked her first public appearance of the year, and she undoubtedly stole the show with her impressive achievements.
Since the release of her chart-topping album The Life of a Showgirl in October, Swift has been keeping a low profile. She was last seen in February, enjoying a date with her fiancé, Travis Kelce, whom she became engaged to in August. Although she attended Beyoncé’s Oscars after-party last week, she remained largely out of the public eye.

However, Swift was back in the spotlight at the iHeartRadio Awards held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday (AEDT). She attended the event alongside Kelce, making it their first time at an awards show together. The couple’s presence added to the excitement of the night, as Swift dominated the biggest categories.
She won awards for best album, favourite tour style for the record-breaking Eras Tour, and artist of the year. Additionally, she took home the titles for best pop album, best pop song, best lyrics, and best music video, all for her hit track The Fate of Ophelia.
In her acceptance speech for best artist, Swift shared a heartfelt message about creativity and passion. “I love writing songs more than anything in the world,” she said. “We live in this world where there’s so much immediate feedback constantly… If I had one hope for you, I would say that I hope that you get to nurture your hobby and your passion, just between you and that craft, and you give yourself time.”
She emphasized the importance of giving oneself space to grow and make mistakes. “Give yourself time to make mistakes, give yourself time to hone your craft. I’m a firm believer that anything you feed your mind, it will internalise; anything you feed the internet, it will attempt to kill. I don’t want that for your dreams.”
Earlier in the evening, Swift mentioned that Showgirl was inspired by the positivity she felt from fans during her record-breaking Eras Tour. “The album came out with this energy of just feeling really happy and strong and confident and free,” she said. “And so I want to say thank you to the fans for giving me that feeling.”
She also expressed gratitude to Kelce, stating, “This album probably also feels very happy and confident and free because that’s the way I get to feel every single day of my life because of my fiance who’s here tonight.” The camera captured Kelce on his feet, beaming widely as he listened to her words.
Throughout the night, fans were eager to see if Swift would make any major announcements. Speculation about wedding dates, pregnancy, and future album releases was rampant online. However, Swift kept things simple, focusing on thanking her fans and Kelce for the joy that defines her Showgirl era.
Despite no official announcements, Swifties were still actively searching for hidden details. They analyzed every aspect of her outfit and speeches, with some wondering if her pale green corset top, miniskirt, and nude lip (instead of her signature red) hinted at a re-recording of her 2006 debut album, Taylor Swift. Her red carpet look bore a striking resemblance to the cover of her first album.
In May, Taylor Swift regained full ownership of her music, ending a long battle with former manager Scooter Braun, who had controlled the masters of her early catalogue through Big Machine Label Group. Before reclaiming her discography, she released re-recorded versions of four albums — Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989 — with plans to release two more.
After regaining control of her back catalogue, Variety published a letter from Swift to her fans, assuring them that the rerecorded albums would still be released. “Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about. But if it happens, it won’t be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now,” she wrote.
Other notable winners at the event included Bruno Mars, who won song of the summer for I Just Might, and his collaboration with Australian artist Rosé, APT, which took home best collaboration. Sabrina Carpenter won pop artist of the year, while Miley Cyrus received the innovator award. Ludacris, who hosted the event, was awarded the landmark award.
