The View‘s Joy Behar left audiences puzzled after she interrupted guest co-host Sara Eisen to mock Donald Trump while simultaneously struggling to find holes in his new policy.
CNBC’s Eisen, 41, was praising the president’s ‘Trump Accounts’ during Thursday’s Hot Topics when the longtime co-host, 83, railroaded the conversation to voice her disappointment in the lack of clean energy.
The episode derailed when regular panelists Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Behar, and their guest discussed the current state of the country.
‘Sometimes, when it comes to President Trump, you have to separate the character from the policies, and there are policies that this administration has done [that work],’ Eisen suggested.
She then referenced Trump’s ‘transformational’ new policy, which will provide children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028 with a tax-advantaged investment of $1,000.
But as soon as she did this, Behar moved the discussion in a different direction.
‘What disappoints me about this entire conversation is that there’s no effort put into solar energy,’ she said.
‘The sun is there. There’s not a lot of money to be made maybe, and that’s why…’

She then looked down at her notes to reference how Trump had once reportedly said that he has never ‘understood’ windmills.
Following this, Behar cracked a joke at the president’s expense.
‘I think he’s more worried about his hair than anything else here,’ she said.
‘But that would be one of the solutions to this problem. We depend on foreign oil and then we bomb the countries that supply it.’
Eisen tried to circle back to her argument, but was cut off by Goldberg, 70, who had to take the show to a commercial break.
‘Listen, I’m sorry, for me, until he realizes how this affects all of us as citizens, it’s not enough,’ she said.
‘But we’re done talking about it, we’ve got to go. We’ll be right back.’
Social media users were quick to slam Behar for how she handled the discussion – and claimed she purposefully avoided speaking to Trump’s successes.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer described the moment as ‘utterly ridiculous.’
‘The women on The View are so infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome that they couldn’t even let Sara Eisen finish explaining how transformational Trump Accounts will be for kids across America,’ they continued.
Another asked: ‘What’s the point of having a guest? From CNBC no less. They don’t want to hear anyone else talk. Joy is just setting up Trump jokes.’
Meanwhile, others applauded Eisen for speaking up.
‘Shout-out Sara Eisen for being the voice of reason,’ one wrote.
‘Trump Accounts will be transformational and have a huge impact on the next generation’s financial literacy and wellbeing.’
The president announced Trump Accounts in January.
Provided to newborns by the Department of the Treasury, the $1,000 stipend could be built on with up to $5,000 annual investments.
