Paultons Park Embraces a Greener Future
Hampshire’s beloved theme park is taking significant steps towards a more sustainable future. Paultons Park has been honored with the Best Green Project award at the New Forest Building Design Awards for its £1.5 million investment in solar carports. This initiative has enabled the park to generate 35% of its total energy consumption from solar power.
The project has already made a considerable impact, preventing nearly 150 tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2025 alone. This is equivalent to planting 8,000 trees. James Mancey, deputy managing director at Paultons Park, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating:
“Our solar panel project has proven to be a huge success. We’ve closely monitored the performance of our new panels since they were installed last year, and the overall impact on our energy consumption has been remarkable. We’re very proud to be closer than ever to achieving our mission of generating half of the park’s power needs via solar.”
As a business rooted in family values, Paultons Park recognizes its responsibility to help preserve the environment for future generations.
Stephen Lorton, Commercial Director at Paultons Park, added:
“The scheme was praised for its ‘contemporary yet highly functional design’ and innovative reuse of brownfield land.”
Expanding the Solar Initiative
Paultons Park has already begun work on the second phase of its solar project. This includes installing new solar arrays across various park buildings and implementing a battery energy storage system (BESS). These upgrades are expected to help the park reach its goal of generating 50% of its energy from renewable sources.
In addition to these efforts, the park has already implemented other sustainability measures, such as push taps and sensor-lit lighting, which further reduce energy consumption.
A Thriving Theme Park
As a family-run theme park, Paultons Park is home to over 80 rides and attractions, including the UK-exclusive Peppa Pig World. The park recently celebrated its success by winning 10 trophies at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards, including the prestigious title of Theme Park of the Year.
Exciting New Development
Looking ahead, Paultons Park will unveil its latest investment: a £12 million Viking-themed land called Valgard: Realm of the Vikings. This exciting new area is set to open on May 16, offering visitors an immersive experience into the world of Norse mythology and adventure.
Other Notable Updates
Other recent developments include:
- A village hall receiving a major refurbishment following a six-figure funding boost.
- Plans for a logistics park that promises thousands of jobs have been submitted for approval.
