How the List Was Determined
Sportico compiled this list by consulting industry insiders, conducting their own research, and using historical estimates from other reputable outlets such as Forbes and Sports Illustrated. The calculations included a wide range of income sources, such as salaries, bonuses, prize money, purses, endorsements, licensing, royalties, memorabilia, book deals, media appearances, and appearance fees. When necessary, even golf course design fees were considered. Additionally, equity stakes in sponsor companies after sales were also factored into the final figures.
