TNT Sports Streams to HBO Max in UK Launch

Sports fans across the United Kingdom are set for a significant shift in how they access their favourite live sporting events, with the upcoming launch of HBO Max on 26 March marking a new era for TNT Sports. Previously hosted on the discovery+ platform, all the live action currently broadcast by TNT Sports will transition to HBO’s dedicated streaming service. The UK’s adoption of HBO Max positions it as the final European country to welcome the platform.

This move comes after TNT Sports’ already extensive sports portfolio was bolstered by its integration with Eurosport under the Warner Bros. Discovery umbrella last year. The comprehensive offering encompasses a wide array of major sporting events, including sought-after Premier League and Champions League football fixtures, Premiership Rugby action, the Olympic Games, and the Grand Slam tennis tournaments at both the French and Australian Opens. Furthermore, fans of the cycling season will be able to follow the entire calendar, culminating in the iconic Tour de France.

For existing subscribers to TNT Sports channels, the transition promises a seamless experience. They will be able to log in to HBO Max using their current credentials, with no change to the monthly subscription fee of £30.99. Alternatively, viewers will have the option to subscribe to select HBO Max entertainment packages, which will grant them access to a broader spectrum of content beyond live sports.

This expanded entertainment library will feature critically acclaimed HBO television series such as “Succession” and “The Sopranos,” alongside newer hits like “The Pitt.” Movie buffs will also be catered for, with access to films from Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.

It’s important to note that TNT Sports will be available as a distinct subscription service or as an optional add-on to HBO Max’s entertainment plans. It will not be automatically bundled in. This means that individuals who are solely interested in television shows and films will not be required to pay for sports coverage, and vice versa, offering greater flexibility and choice to consumers.

The HBO Max service will be accessible in the United Kingdom through established platforms such as Sky and Prime Video, ensuring widespread availability for UK audiences.

The first major men’s football fixture in England to be broadcast on TNT Sports under its new streaming home will be a highly anticipated FA Cup quarter-final clash. The match will feature Manchester City going head-to-head with Liverpool, kicking off at 12:15 PM BST on Saturday, 4 April. This early season fixture is expected to draw significant attention from football enthusiasts across the nation.

This strategic integration of TNT Sports onto the HBO Max platform signifies a major development in the UK’s sports broadcasting landscape, promising a unified and enriched viewing experience for fans of a diverse range of athletic pursuits. The combination of premium sports content with a rich library of acclaimed entertainment is poised to make HBO Max a compelling destination for a wide audience.
