Toyota Supra A80 Gains More Parts Through Heritage Program

Toyota Introduces Reproduction Dashboard for 1993–2002 A80 Supra

Toyota has announced the release of a reproduction dashboard for the 1993 to 2002 Mk4 Supra ‘A80’ sports car, marking one of more than 300 parts being produced under its GR Heritage Parts Project. This initiative aims to provide essential components for older Toyota models, ensuring that classic vehicles can continue to be driven and maintained.

The new dashboard will be manufactured using modern materials and techniques, designed to enhance durability while preserving the original plastic grain to maintain visual authenticity. Production is set to begin in September, with the instrument panel available through GR Garage locations and Toyota dealerships across Japan. However, it remains unclear whether the part will be accessible to customers outside of Japan who are looking to keep their older models running.

The GR Heritage Parts Project

Since 2019, the GR Heritage Parts Project has been dedicated to reproducing discontinued parts for older Toyota models. This program supports owners who wish to maintain their classic vehicles by providing high-quality replacements that match the original design. The project covers eight different models, including:

  • 2000GT
  • A70 and A80 Supra
  • Corolla AE86 coupe
  • 40, 60, 70, and 80 Series Land Cruisers

Among the components produced under the project is the block and cylinder head of the 4A-GE engine from the AE86 Corolla. These parts are crafted using the latest manufacturing methods while retaining the original design, ensuring that classic vehicles remain as close to their original state as possible.

Enhancing Durability Without Losing Authenticity

Toyota has emphasized that the reproduced A80 Supra dashboard will be made with modern materials to combat issues such as cracking and fading that affected the original parts. Despite these improvements, the dashboard will retain its original finish and design, allowing owners to preserve the aesthetic appeal of their vehicles.

The A80 Supra was never officially sold in Australia, but many examples have found their way onto local roads through grey imports. With the first examples turning 33 this year, there is growing interest in maintaining these iconic sports cars.

Availability and Future Plans

While the dashboard will be available in Japan starting in September, it is yet to be confirmed if it will be offered internationally. This uncertainty leaves many owners wondering about the future availability of such critical parts.

Toyota’s commitment to the GR Heritage Parts Project reflects its dedication to supporting classic vehicle owners. By combining modern manufacturing techniques with a focus on original design, the project ensures that older Toyota models can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

As the automotive industry evolves, programs like this play a crucial role in preserving the legacy of iconic vehicles. Whether it’s a Supra, a Land Cruiser, or a Corolla, the GR Heritage Parts Project is helping to keep these classics on the road.
