Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shocks Ex-India Star with Stellar Performance

A Stellar Performance That Shuts Down Doubts

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made a powerful statement in IPL 2026, silencing his critics and proving his mettle on the field. In a thrilling encounter at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Sooryavanshi delivered a breathtaking innings that helped Rajasthan Royals secure a commanding six-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Sooryavanshi’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary. He scored 78 runs off just 26 balls, hitting eight fours and seven sixes. His aggressive approach and ability to dominate the opposition attack were on full display as he took charge early in the innings. By the end of the powerplay, he had already reached a quick 50 off 15 balls, setting the tone for Rajasthan’s chase of a challenging target of 202.

A Response to Criticism

Earlier this year, former India batter Robin Uthappa had expressed doubts about Sooryavanshi’s ability to maintain his form in the second season of his IPL career. Uthappa suggested that the young player’s initial success might have been due to luck and unexpected opportunities, and he questioned whether Sooryavanshi could continue to perform at the same level.

However, after witnessing Sooryavanshi’s latest performance, Uthappa quickly acknowledged his mistake. He praised the youngster for overcoming the so-called “second season blues” and highlighted the hard work he had put into his game. Uthappa even described Sooryavanshi as a generational talent, clarifying that he had never dismissed the young player’s previous performances as a fluke.

“I am only SO HAPPY to be wrong about this. Second season blues are a reality in professional sport. It’s a part and parcel of professional sport. I have absolutely no qualms in saying that he’s not having second season blues at the moment and he’s come to this season heaps better prepared than the last one,” Uthappa wrote on X.

“He looks like he’s one perhaps 2 steps ahead of the bowlers he’s going up against! Truly a generational talent and I pray he will continue in this same way for the rest of his career. And one clarification: I NEVER CALLED HIM OR HIS PERFORMANCE LAST SEASON A FLUKE!! Peace out,” he added.

Dominating the Opposition

One of the most impressive aspects of Sooryavanshi’s innings was his dominance over Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. The young batter took control of the over, hitting three boundaries and a six in a single over. His ability to read the pace and length of the ball showcased his maturity and confidence at the crease.

Sooryavanshi’s explosive knock not only helped Rajasthan reach the target with 12 balls to spare but also solidified his position as the Royals’ leading run-scorer this season. With 200 runs from four matches, he averages 50 and maintains an astonishing strike rate of 266.66.

Rajasthan Royals’ Continued Success

Thanks to this victory, Rajasthan Royals remain unbeaten in the tournament, securing four wins with a net run rate of +2.055. The 2008 IPL champions will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 13 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Sooryavanshi’s performance has not only silenced his critics but also reinforced his status as one of the most exciting talents in the Indian Premier League. With his confidence growing and his skills sharpening, there is no doubt that he will continue to make waves in the upcoming matches.
