Weekly High School Athletes of the Week Poll
The Oklahoman is currently running its weekly poll for the boys’ athletes of the week for the period of March 30 to April 5. This poll, sponsored by Landmark Fine Homes, is available online at oklahoman.com and will remain open until noon on Sunday. Last week’s winner was Camden Bruce from Christian Heritage, who received a total of 3,585 votes.
Here are this week’s nominees across various sports:
Baseball
Easton Roby, Senior, Okarche:
Roby delivered an outstanding performance against Silo, pitching seven innings with only four hits and two runs allowed, one of which was earned. His efforts led Okarche to a 4-2 victory in the championship game of the Brexten Green Memorial Tournament in Cashion. Roby, who will be continuing his career at Cowley College in Kansas, now has a 3-0 record with a 1.29 ERA this season.
Lucas Stout, Senior, Oklahoma Christian School:
Stout had an impressive week with a .571 batting average and a .750 on-base percentage. He hit one home run, recorded four RBIs, and scored four runs. The Saints defeated Chandler twice, but the standout moment was a 9-6 win over defending Class 4A state runner-up Tuttle.
Golf
Chase Blaser, Junior, Edmond North:
Blaser won the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Tournament by shooting a 2-under 69 at The Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City.
Christopher Crawford, Freshman, Carl Albert:
Crawford shot a 3-under 69 to place third at the Highlander Invitational in Lawton. On Thursday, he placed 10th at the Southern Oklahoma Invitational with an 8-over 150.
Soccer
Hudson Stewart, Senior, Newcastle:
Stewart contributed four goals and one assist as the Newcastle Racers defeated Tuttle 4-1 and Weatherford 2-0. Stewart has scored in all but one of Newcastle’s 10 games this season, totaling 27 goals.
Track & Field
Aiden Williams, Junior, Norman North:
Williams placed first in the 400-meter race with a time of 51.26 seconds and helped Norman North win the 4×100 relay in 43.53 seconds at the Tex Rollins Invitational.
Cruz Gillispie, Senior, Oklahoma Christian Academy:
Gillispie claimed first place in both the 100-meter (11.05 seconds) and 200-meter (21.81 seconds) races at the Cashion Wildcat Relays meet.
Asher Diffendaffer, Senior, Northwest Classen:
Diffendaffer won the 100-meter race with a time of 11.42 seconds at the NW Classen Knights Relays meet last week.
Kentrell Gaddis, Sophomore, Choctaw:
Gaddis excelled at the Yellowjackets Invitational, winning the 200-meter race in 23.05 seconds and placing fifth in the 100-meter race with a time of 11.50 seconds.
