During the RCB vs CSK match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, it was the star batting sensation, Virat Kohli, who stole the spotlight. While RCB emerged victorious by 43 runs, the most talked-about moment of the game was the humorous exchange between Kohli and the spectators in the stadium.
In the second innings of the CSK chase, the fans chanted, “Kohli Ko Bowling Do,” which translates to “Let Kohli bowl.” Kohli responded with a smile and denied their request, creating an amusing moment that quickly went viral on social media. This incident became the highlight of the RCB vs CSK clash, capturing the attention of cricket fans across the globe.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time such chants have been directed at Kohli. During the ODI World Cup 2023, similar chants were heard when the Indian batter completed one over after all-rounder Hardik Pandya got injured.
RCB Sets a Mammoth Total
RCB batted first and dominated the proceedings right from the start, setting a daunting total of 250/3 in their 20 overs. Devdutt Padikkal was in scintillating form, scoring 50 off 29 deliveries. This was his third consecutive fifty this season, showcasing his consistent performance.
After Padikkal’s early exit, Rajat Patidar and Tim David took control of the innings. Patidar remained unbeaten on 48 off 19 deliveries, while Tim David unleashed a powerful 70 off 25 deliveries. Their partnership of 99 runs for the fourth wicket off just 35 deliveries proved crucial in helping RCB reach the mammoth score.
David particularly shone in the death overs, hitting four sixes in a row against the Chennai bowlers. He reached his fifty off just 21 deliveries, contributing significantly to RCB’s total. The team managed to score 97 runs in the last five overs, further cementing their dominance.
CSK Struggles Despite Fightbacks
Despite some valiant efforts, the Yellow Army couldn’t keep up with the required run rate as they chased a massive target of 251. Sarfaraz Khan continued his aggressive batting, scoring a cameo of 50 off 24 deliveries. Prashant Veer also contributed with a solid 43 off 32 deliveries.
However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to provide the necessary support, leading to the early dismissal of their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad. This put the team under pressure, making it difficult for them to mount a comeback.
Although the Chennai batters tried to regain momentum in the middle overs, Jamie Overton’s attempt to score quick runs in the final over came too late. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took the most wickets in the game, achieved a significant milestone by completing 200 IPL wickets.
CSK were eventually bundled out for 207 runs off 19.4 overs, losing the match by 43 runs. With this win, the Royal Challengers Bangalore now sit at the top of the points table, having secured four consecutive victories over CSK in the IPL.
