Actor and comedian Bill Murray is currently in the spotlight as he continues to make appearances during March Madness, enjoying his son Luke Murray’s basketball games in the NCAA Tournament.
As a proud father, Bill has been supporting his son, who is helping coach the University of Connecticut through multiple rounds of the tournament, leading them to the championship game. However, after this season ends, Luke will be leaving the Huskies to officially start his new role as head coach of the Boston College Eagles for next season.
Despite being seen at basketball games with other spectators, Bill Murray is not retired from the entertainment industry. He has previously received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his roles in films such as “Lost in Translation,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” and “Rushmore.” There is always the possibility of future nominations as well.
Bill Murray has several upcoming projects in the works. One of these includes a film where he is not only starring but also serving as an executive producer. Additionally, he will be appearing alongside Oscar-winning actor Dustin Hoffman in another project.

Bill Murray is set to star in two upcoming films: “Diamond” and “Epiphany.”
“Diamond” is currently in production and follows the story of Joe Diamond, a character haunted by his past who uses his wit and observational skills to solve crimes or uncover hidden truths. The film features award-winning actors Brendan Fraser and Dustin Hoffman, with Andy Garcia as the writer and producer. No release date has been announced yet.
In “Epiphany,” Murray stars alongside fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Kristen Wiig. According to Variety, the film features “iconic roles” for both actors. The movie is a romantic comedy centered on a broke fashionista heiress named Favorite Ives (Wiig), who is racing to marry a rich person to avoid financial disaster. She meets an “unusual billionaire mathematician” named Oz Bell (Murray) who may help her resolve her situation.
This film is written and produced by Mitch Glazer (“Lost in Translation”) and directed by Max Barbakow (“Scrooged”). Murray is also an executive producer on the project, which is in pre-production with no release date yet.
Other upcoming projects include “The Ploughmen” and “The Springs.”
“The Ploughmen” is in pre-production and features Murray as the Copper County Sheriff. Based on the synopsis, the film focuses on a friendship between a “haunted deputy sheriff” and an old murderer, which turns their worlds upside down. The cast includes Amy Madigan, Nick Nolte, Owen Teague, and Lily Harris, with Ed Harris as co-writer and director.
Murray is also set to appear in “The Springs,” where he plays a retired detective who must use his skills after his brother is found dead at a retirement home. The project is still in development, with Howard Franklin writing and Theodore Melfi directing.
Beyond his acting career, Murray is also part of a band called Bill Murray & His Blood Brothers. The group resumes their tour later this month, featuring renowned blues guitarists Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia, along with Jimmy Vivino. They perform classic rock and blues covers. More details on tour dates and tickets can be found on the band’s official website.
In addition to his work in entertainment, Murray continues to support his family, especially his son, as he navigates the world of college basketball.
