Zendaya to “Disappear” After Packed 2026 Release Schedule
A whirlwind 2026 is on the horizon for actor Zendaya, with a staggering slate of four films and a major television series set to hit screens. The Emmy-winning star, who has captivated audiences with her diverse roles, has revealed plans to take a significant break following the anticipated release of her projects.
Responding to observations that 2026 is shaping up to be the “year of Z,” Zendaya expressed her hopes that viewers won’t grow tired of her work. “I just hope people don’t get sick of me and I appreciate everyone who supports any of the movies, supports my career in any kind of way,” she stated. “I’m deeply appreciative. I just hope you guys don’t get sick of me this year because I’ll tell you what, after this, I’m disappearing for a little bit. I’m going to have to go into hiding for just a little bit.”
The 29-year-old’s cinematic and television journey in 2026 kicks off on April 3rd with A24’s The Drama. In this upcoming film, Zendaya shares the screen with Robert Pattinson.
Just a week later, fans will be treated to the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s Euphoria. Zendaya is set to reprise her acclaimed role as Rue, a performance that has already earned her two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
The summer months will see Zendaya feature in two major blockbusters. In July, she will appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Notably, she reunites with Tom Holland in both of these highly anticipated films. Zendaya and Holland’s relationship, which began after they met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, has been a subject of public interest. Rumours of their marriage have been circulating since Zendaya’s long-time stylist, Law Roach, alluded to a “wedding already happened” following their 2024 engagement. However, neither Zendaya nor Holland has publicly confirmed their marital status.

Zendaya’s monumental year will conclude on December 18th with the release of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three.
Controversy Surrounds The Drama‘s Plot Twist
While anticipation for Zendaya’s projects is high, The Drama has already ignited controversy due to a significant plot revelation at its core. The film reportedly features Zendaya’s character, Emma, confessing to her fiancé, Charlie (played by Robert Pattinson), and their friends that she had contemplated a high school shooting during her youth but ultimately did not act on it.
This narrative element has drawn criticism from Tom Mauser, whose son Daniel Mauser was a victim of the 1999 Columbine High School massacre. Mauser, who has been a vocal advocate for gun reform for the past 25 years, expressed his disgust to TMZ. He described the use of such a sensitive subject as a plot device in what is understood to be a romantic comedy as “awful.” While Mauser has not seen the film, he voiced concerns that it could inadvertently “humanise” perpetrators of school shootings and contribute to their “normalisation.” It is important to note that the film does not depict any actual mass violence.
