Zendaya Prepares for a “Year of Z” with a Packed 2026 Schedule, Followed by a Much-Needed Hiatus
The entertainment world is buzzing with anticipation for what many are dubbing the “Year of Z” in 2026, as acclaimed actress Zendaya gears up for an unprecedented release slate. The multi-talented star is set to feature in a staggering four films and a highly anticipated television series, a schedule so demanding that she’s already planning to “disappear for a little bit” once the whirlwind concludes.
Responding to the host of Fandango’s Big Ticket, Zendaya, a two-time Emmy winner, expressed her hopes that audiences won’t tire of her prolific output. “I just hope people don’t get sick of me,” she remarked, “and I appreciate everyone who supports any of the movies, supports my career in any kind of way. I’m deeply appreciative. I just hope you guys don’t get sick of me this year because I’ll tell you what, after this, I’m disappearing for a little bit. I’m going to have to go into hiding for just a little bit.”
The 29-year-old’s cinematic journey in 2026 kicks off on April 3rd with A24’s The Drama. In this new offering, Zendaya shares the screen with fellow acclaimed actor Robert Pattinson.
Just a week later, fans can transition from the big screen to the small, with the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s Euphoria premiering. Zendaya will once again reprise her critically lauded role as Rue, a performance that has already earned her two Primetime Emmy awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
July promises to be a blockbuster month, with Zendaya featuring in two major releases. First, she’ll appear in Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey. Hot on its heels, she’ll also be seen in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Notably, she reunites with her Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star and real-life partner, Tom Holland, in both of these highly anticipated films.
The pairing of Zendaya and Tom Holland has captivated public attention since they first met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Their relationship, which reportedly began in 2021, has been the subject of much speculation, particularly following their 2024 engagement. Recent comments from Zendaya’s longtime stylist, Law Roach, who told Access Hollywood that “the wedding already happened,” have further fueled rumours of a secret ceremony. However, neither Zendaya nor Holland has publicly confirmed their marital status.

Concluding Zendaya’s monumental 2026, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three is slated for release on December 18th, bringing the epic saga to a close for the year.
However, not all of Zendaya’s upcoming projects have been met with universal acclaim. The Drama has already faced criticism regarding a significant plot twist at its core. The film’s narrative reportedly involves Zendaya’s character, Emma, confessing to her fiancé, Charlie (played by Pattinson), and their friends that she once contemplated a school shooting during her high school years, though she ultimately did not act on the impulse.
This particular storyline has drawn sharp criticism from Tom Mauser, whose son Daniel Mauser was a victim of the 1999 Columbine High School massacre. Mauser, a vocal advocate for gun reform for the past 25 years, expressed his disgust to TMZ, calling it “awful” to utilise such a sensitive and tragic subject as a plot device, especially within a romantic comedy. While Mauser has not yet seen the film, he voiced concerns that it could inadvertently “humanise” perpetrators and “normalise” the concept of school shootings. It has been noted that no mass violence is depicted within the film itself.
The sheer volume of work Zendaya is set to deliver in 2026 underscores her status as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand talents. Yet, her candid admission about needing a break highlights the immense pressure and dedication required to maintain such a high-profile career. Fans will undoubtedly be eager to soak in every moment of her 2026 releases before she takes her well-deserved hiatus.
