Unbeaten Teams Shine at Gather Round
Only three teams remained undefeated after the fourth edition of Gather Round, with Brisbane, GWS, and Geelong making a strong impression during their visit to South Australia. The Lions continued their dominance on the field, securing a win against North Melbourne in Barossa. The Giants also added four points to their tally by defeating Richmond at the same venue, while the Cats proved too strong for West Coast at Norwood.
Port Adelaide, the home club, suffered its first loss of the weekend after being defeated by St Kilda on Sunday night. Similarly, Collingwood faced a setback as they were unable to overcome Fremantle on Friday night at Adelaide Oval.
Hawthorn managed to secure their first victory of the Gather Round following an impressive performance against the Western Bulldogs. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs, along with other teams like Richmond, West Coast, and North Melbourne, continued their losing streaks.
Record Crowd Attendance
The 2026 edition of Gather Round set a new record for crowd attendance, surpassing last year’s numbers. Over 270,000 spectators attended the games held at Adelaide Oval, Barossa Park, and Norwood Oval, with an average of 30,002 per match.
Last year, 269,506 supporters attended the nine games, which was an improvement over the inaugural season in 2023, where 268,267 people were present.
