The passing of the revered actor Ahn Sung-ki on the 5th marked a poignant moment for the Korean film industry and his countless admirers. The chosen memorial photograph was originally taken on the Sinchon Campus of Yonsei University. It was Ahn Sung-ki’s wife who ultimately selected this particular photograph as the memorial. His passing occurred approximately six days after he collapsed at his home on December 30th. The incident involved him choking on food, leading to his admission to the ICU in an unconscious state.

On the 9th, a solemn funeral mass and farewell ceremony were conducted at Myeongdong Cathedral, a place of significant cultural and spiritual importance.

Actors Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung, among other notable personalities, served as pallbearers, carrying Ahn Sung-ki’s coffin and bidding him a final, heartfelt farewell.
