JAMB Announces Quick Release of 2026 UTME Results
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made a significant announcement regarding the release of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Candidates who took the exam on Friday and Saturday will have their results officially available within three hours of the test’s completion. This swift release is part of the board’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and efficiency in the examination process.
This development comes after the successful conclusion of the first few days of the national examination, which remains the primary gateway for students seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The Head of Public Affairs and Protocol at JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, shared this information in a statement on X, highlighting that the results for these specific batches would be accessible to candidates within a short time frame.
Dr. Benjamin tweeted around 5:30pm, encouraging thousands of anxious students to “prepare emotionally and mentally” before checking their scores. His message emphasized the importance of mental readiness as the results are about to be released.
This announcement marks the second major result release in the 2026 cycle. The examination officially started nationwide on Thursday, April 16, with the results from that day already processed and made available to candidates on Saturday. The upcoming release covers the second and third batches of the examination, which include those who took the computer-based tests on April 17 and 18.
Commitment to Transparency and Speed
Benjamin noted that the Board is committed to maintaining a fast and transparent result-processing system. He explained that the technical team worked through the weekend to verify the scores against the Board’s security protocols, ensuring the integrity of the entire exercise.
The spokesperson also mentioned that candidates who sat for the examination after Saturday would have their results released in subsequent batches as the examination continues across the country. This phased approach allows the Board to manage the large volume of results effectively while maintaining high standards of accuracy and security.
How to Access Your Results
To check their results, candidates have been instructed to follow established procedures by sending ‘RESULT’ to the Board’s dedicated short codes, 55019 or 66019, using the phone numbers they used during registration. Dr. Benjamin emphasized that this method remains the most reliable way to access results instantly. However, the results will also be uploaded to the candidates’ individual profiles on the JAMB e-facility portal in due course.
Scale of the Examination
Background reports indicate that over 1.9 million candidates registered for the 2026 UTME, which is being held in over 700 certified Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This massive scale underscores the importance of the examination in the Nigerian education system.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Malpractice
The Board has also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice. Any candidate found to have bypassed the biometric verification process or engaged in misconduct will have their results permanently withheld. This strict policy is aimed at maintaining the credibility and fairness of the examination process.
