Baffled ‘This Morning’ Fans Unite Over Blue’s 25th Anniversary Promotion

Blue’s Return to This Morning Sparks Mixed Reactions

Blue, the iconic British boyband, recently made a return to This Morning, where they promoted their 25th anniversary tour and new music. The group, consisting of Lee Ryan, Duncan James, Simon Webbe, and Anthony Costa, appeared on the ITV show hosted by Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on Wednesday, April 15. During the segment, they shared insights into their upcoming tour and the music fans can expect.

The band first rose to fame in 2001 with their hit single “All Rise.” Over the years, they have remained a staple in the UK music scene, but their recent appearance on This Morning sparked a wave of reactions from viewers.

Social Media Reactions: Confusion and Criticism

Fans took to social media to express their thoughts about the band’s latest appearance. Many noted that Blue had been seen on the show quite recently, leading to confusion about the timing of their comeback. One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Feels like Blue were on the TM sofa quite recently?” while another added a meme with the word “no” in response.

Another fan commented, “Here’s Blue and what seems like their 25th appearance,” highlighting the frequency of the band’s appearances. Some critics were more vocal, with one person stating, “Never was there a more annoying comeback as Blue.” Others took a more humorous approach, joking that the band should celebrate their 25th anniversary with a different set of songs.

Despite the mixed reactions, some fans praised the band for their continued presence. One person wrote, “My boys are aging like fine wine,” while another said, “These guys have aged really well. They look great!!!”

A New Chapter for Blue

Back in September, Blue announced their comeback on Instagram, sharing a series of images to mark the occasion. The group revealed plans to release their new album Reflections in January 2026, followed by a 25th Anniversary Tour in April and May 2026.

As part of their promotion, the band premiered their new single, “One Last Time,” on Radio 2 with Scott Mills. Speaking about the song, Duncan James shared the inspiration behind it. He explained that the track was written after the death of a close friend. “It hit me hard, and I wrote this in the aftermath of it all. But I didn’t want it to sound like a sad song,” he said. “We came up with this, which is a different kind of a sound for Blue – it has a rockier feel but still retains all the classic elements of a Blue song.”

A Legacy of Music and Memories

Blue was formed in 2000 and released three studio albums before announcing a hiatus in 2004. They reformed in 2011 and represented the UK at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “I Can,” finishing in 11th place. In 2013, they joined The Big Reunion, where they reunited with other defunct groups for a one-off gig.

After being dropped by their record label Sony in 2015 due to poor sales of their fifth album Colours, the band made a comeback in 2022 with the singles “Haven’t Found You Yet” and “Dance with Me,” both from their sixth studio album Heart & Soul, released on 28 October 2022.

With over 15 million records sold worldwide, Blue remains a significant force in the UK music industry. Their work has earned them certifications for 3.6 million albums and 2.6 million singles in the UK.

Behind-the-Scenes Stories

In an interview ahead of their return, Duncan James shared a memorable story from the band’s heyday. He recalled sitting in first class on a flight from LA to London when Mariah Carey was seated across from him. “Her assistant came up to me and said, ‘Mariah would like to have a drink with you at the bar.’ I was like, ‘Holy f***’… I ended up doing shots of vodka with her while she was singing in my ear. I thought, ‘I’ve made it.’”

Simon Webbe also shared a story about their 2002 collaboration with Elton John. “One minute I was signing on, then you’re getting nods from legends like Elton John. We got a tour of his place and he told us All Rise was the best album of that year.” Duncan added, “We went into his walk-in wardrobe and we saw his glasses — rails and rails of them. I was like, ‘F***ing hell, this is brilliant, we’re having a right old nose around Elton’s house.’”

Final Thoughts

Blue’s recent appearance on This Morning has reignited discussions about their legacy and impact on the music industry. While some fans expressed frustration over the band’s frequent appearances, others celebrated their enduring charm and talent. As they prepare for their 25th Anniversary Tour, Blue continues to prove that their music and presence remain relevant.
