Amateur Sensation Rahul Bishwakarma Dominates Surya Nepal Golf Tour
The 2025-26 season of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour has kicked off with a resounding victory for amateur golfer Rahul Bishwakarma at the Central Open. Bishwakarma showcased exceptional skill and composure, carding a final round of 4-under 68 to secure a commanding 14-stroke win. His impressive 72-hole score of 14-under 274 cemented his status as a rising star in Nepali golf.
This victory marks Bishwakarma’s third career title and his second at the prestigious Central Open, underscoring his consistent performance and growing dominance on the tour. The tournament, held at the scenic Gokarna Forest Golf Resort, saw a strong field of competitors, but Bishwakarma’s performance was in a league of its own.
A Stellar Performance from Start to Finish
Bishwakarma began the final day of the 2025-26 Central Open with a comfortable five-stroke lead over his closest competitor, professional Jayram Shrestha. Demonstrating remarkable control and strategic play, he extended this lead to an impressive eight shots by the turn. His front nine was marked by precision, featuring birdies on the second, third, eighth, and ninth holes, with only a single bogey on the fifth.
The back nine saw Bishwakarma continue his strong play, adding birdies on the 12th and 15th holes. Despite a minor setback with a dropped shot on the 17th, his overall performance remained largely unblemished, leading him to a dominant victory.
Jayram Shrestha’s Challenging Final Round
Professional golfer Jayram Shrestha, who was in contention for the lead, faced a challenging final round. He started the day five shots behind Bishwakarma and struggled to close the gap. Shrestha managed an even-par 36 on the front nine, with early birdies on the first and second holes offset by bogeys on the third and seventh.
The back nine proved particularly difficult for Shrestha, as he carded a 5-over 41. This included a series of bogeys on the 10th, 12th, 14th, 15th, and 16th holes, ultimately leaving him 14 strokes behind the triumphant Bishwakarma.
Bishwakarma’s Ascending Career Trajectory
This latest win is a significant milestone for Rahul Bishwakarma. His first professional title, also claimed at the Central Open during the 2024-25 season (November 25-28, 2024), was a pivotal moment in his burgeoning career. He followed this up with his second career title at the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, the final event of the 2024-25 season.
Reflecting on a previous victory, Bishwakarma expressed the profound impact such wins have on his aspirations. “This win will have a big impact on my future as a golfer,” he stated, highlighting his ambition and commitment to the sport. His consistent success suggests a bright future ahead.
