Cat Deeley Channels Hollywood Glamour, Reflects on Life in the Spotlight and Away
Cat Deeley, the beloved presenter known for her infectious energy and style, recently turned heads on the set of This Morning, opting for an outfit that paid homage to Hollywood royalty. Donning a striking red velvet suit, Deeley confessed she was channelling the iconic Gwyneth Paltrow. The presenter, who co-hosts the ITV programme with Ben Shephard from Monday to Thursday, tied back her signature blonde locks as she struck a pose for social media, showcasing her fashionable tribute.
The 49-year-old’s sartorial choice was a direct nod to a look first sported by Paltrow, 53, at Gucci’s ‘Love Parade’ fashion show in Los Angeles back in 2021. Paltrow’s original ensemble featured a red Gucci suit paired with a blue shirt, a look that itself echoed a memorable outfit the actress had debuted at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.

Deeley shared her take on the ensemble on Instagram, offering her followers a humorous explanation for her own styled-up look. She revealed the practical, albeit fashionable, reason behind her tied-back hair: “When the boys have nits, so it’s time to prevent an infestation but make it FASHION. Gwyneth P in the OG.”

While Paltrow had accessorised her red suit with pointed red heels, Deeley opted for a more grounded approach, pairing her suit with chic black boots and understated stud earrings. The original show-stopping suit, as reported by Vogue, was a creation by Tom Ford for Gucci, later reimagined by current creative director Alessandro Michele. It first graced the runway in April 2022 as part of Gucci’s 100th-anniversary celebrations.

This fashion moment comes after Deeley recently engaged with another nostalgic trend, sharing a series of throwback photos from her time living and working in Los Angeles. For 14 years, Deeley was a prominent figure in the US entertainment scene, fronting shows like So You Think You Can Dance and attending glitzy Hollywood events.
Looking back a decade, Deeley shared a collection of glamorous snaps, reflecting on a bygone era: “Heels were high, filters were strong and my hand made a permanent peace sign!” The images captured her on various TV sets and dressed to the nines for lively nights out with friends, showcasing a vibrant period in her life. In a lighthearted exchange with her stylist friend Charlie Brear, Deeley quipped that their fashion strategy for these outings often involved “dry shampoo and a dress out a case for the win!”

The year 2016 also marked a significant personal milestone for Deeley, as she welcomed her first son, Milo. She shared a touching throwback image of herself playing with her baby boy during Halloween, offering a glimpse into her early days of motherhood.
Deeley and her now ex-husband, Patrick Kielty, began their family while residing in LA, with their second son, James, arriving in 2018. However, by 2020, the family had relocated back to the UK. Deeley’s return to This Morning in 2024 followed a presenter reshuffle on the ITV show, which saw her step in after the departures of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
Beyond the allure of family and the This Morning role, Deeley has spoken candidly about another significant factor that influenced their decision to leave LA. She and Patrick became increasingly concerned about life in the United States following a terrifying incident involving a shooting.
In a previous interview, the former SM:TV host discussed her anxieties about the possibility of school shootings and the potential impact on her children as they grew older. These fears were tragically amplified when her family experienced a mall shooting firsthand.
Deeley recounted the harrowing event: “That danger became even more real last summer when Milo and his father went to the Century City Mall in LA after morning nursery. The FBI turned up with guns and ordered everyone to take cover under counters or hide because a shooter was on the loose.”

Patrick and Milo were forced to take shelter in a Shake Shack kitchen when they realised a gunman was present. Deeley described how her husband worked to keep their son calm, shielding him from the full gravity of the situation.

“They shut down the centre,” Deeley recalled. “I got a call from Paddy, saying, ‘They’re taking us out through the fire exits but nobody can get to their car. If we walk to a junction, can you come and get us?’ It was terrifying. Paddy was shaken by it, more than Milo, who was hot and cranky but didn’t properly understand.”
Deeley now resides in London with her sons, co-parenting with Patrick, following their separation last year. The couple announced their decision to divorce in July, confirming the end of their 13-year marriage but vowing to remain united as parents. Reports from the Daily Mail previously suggested that Patrick’s family were deeply unhappy with Deeley’s absence from his late mother’s funeral months before the split, viewing it as a sign that the marriage was irrevocably over.

Her failure to attend the funeral in March reportedly left a significant emotional impact on the Kielty family, who felt it confirmed their belief that a reconciliation between the couple was unlikely. A spokesperson for Deeley stated at the time that she remained at home to support her two young children before and after school on that “very sad day.”
Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty’s relationship began in 2002 when they hosted the BBC talent show Fame Academy. However, their romantic connection didn’t blossom until a decade later. Deeley has previously shared how Kielty initiated their romance by travelling from Belfast to Los Angeles, where she was hosting So You Can Dance, for a celebratory brunch. The couple made their relationship public in May 2012 and married in an intimate ceremony in Rome later that year.
This Morning broadcasts weekdays from 10 am on ITV1 and ITVX.
