Crows’ Showdown Push Returns

Key Players Returning to the Adelaide Crows

The Adelaide Crows are showing signs of a strong return as several key players begin to rejoin the team. Following positive performances in the reserves and increased training loads, the club is optimistic about welcoming back a trio of important players. This development could significantly bolster the team’s performance as they prepare for upcoming matches.

Darcy Fogarty’s Progress

One of the most anticipated returns is that of key forward Darcy Fogarty. Fogarty has been sidelined for three matches due to a back issue, but his recent training sessions have been promising. According to Murray Davis, the coaching director of the Crows, Fogarty had a “big session on the weekend” and is showing signs of being ready to return to action.

“He trained really well, he had a big session on the weekend,” Davis said. “He’ll be probably one that will be putting his hand up as well, he’s not too far away.”

Fogarty’s return would be a significant boost for the team, especially given his role as a key forward.

Dan Curtin and Jake Soligo Making Their Way Back

Other players who are nearing their return include Dan Curtin and Jake Soligo. Curtin suffered a dislocated knee in January and hasn’t been seen at any level since. However, upon his return, he managed to collect 18 disposals, showing promise.

Soligo, on the other hand, missed the game against Brisbane after an ankle injury sustained during a Gather Round victory over the struggling Blues. Despite this setback, the 23-year-old has been making a strong case for his return to AFL action. He registered 39 disposals and two goals at SANFL level on the weekend, demonstrating his ability to contribute effectively.

Soligo also has a history of performing well in high-stakes games. He was awarded the Showdown Medal in 2024, highlighting his capability in crucial fixtures. His presence in the midfield would be a welcome addition to Matthew Nicks’ squad, especially after a tough performance against the Lions.

Strong Performances in the Midfield

The Crows’ midfield faced challenges against the Brisbane Lions, with the opposition dominating in several areas. Brisbane was +15 in clearances, +22 in contested possessions, and dominated territory, finishing +21 inside 50s to the good over their opponents.

However, there were positive signs from the reserves. Murray Davis noted that both Soligo and Curtin showed encouraging performances.

“Jake was able to get his hands on the footy and we were able to see some of Dan’s workrate stuff as well,” Davis said. “So (it’s) nice to have those magnets on the board to discuss and they’ll certainly be in the mix for Friday night.”

Callum Ah Chee Still Recovering

Despite the positive developments, not all players are available yet. Prized recruit Callum Ah Chee, a former Lion, is still recovering from a significant hamstring injury and is not yet available for selection. His return will be closely watched, as he is expected to add depth and experience to the team.

With several key players returning and showing promise, the Adelaide Crows are in a better position to compete in the upcoming matches. The coaching staff remains optimistic about the team’s prospects, and fans can look forward to seeing these players in action soon.
