Stephen Curry’s Brief Reign and the Road Ahead
Stephen Curry made a powerful statement in the NBA Play-In Tournament, reclaiming his status as a dominant force for 48 hours. On Wednesday, he scored an impressive 35 points, including a crucial three-pointer with just 50 seconds left on the clock, leading the Golden State Warriors to a thrilling 13-point comeback victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed his admiration for the team’s performance after the game, saying, “For one night, we’re us. We’re champions again. I know that may sound crazy to everybody out there. It’s a play-in game – I don’t care. Just absolutely beautiful to watch.”
Curry, alongside Kerr and Draymond Green, helped lead the Warriors to four NBA championships, establishing them as one of the most successful teams in modern basketball history. However, the nostalgia didn’t last long, as the Phoenix Suns defeated the Warriors 111-96 in the second Play-In game, marking the end of their season.
The Warriors struggled throughout the season due to a series of injuries, including Curry’s “runner’s knee,” which kept him out of 27 games. This contributed to a disappointing 37-45 record. Despite this, Curry remained positive and focused on enjoying his time away from the court.

Ayesha Curry’s Coachella Moments
Ayesha Curry, Stephen’s wife of nearly 15 years, shared several photos from Coachella on her Instagram Story. One post featured a selfie of Ayesha and Steph in the crowd, with the caption, “My loverrr.” She also posted a video of Justin Bieber performing “ALL I CAN TAKE” during his Coachella Weekend 2 headlining set, writing, “Hailey Bieber’s husband. Iconic.” Hailey Bieber later reposted the video.
Curry, who is 38 years old, is under contract with the Warriors through next season. However, Draymond Green has a player option, and Steve Kerr’s contract has expired now that the season is over.
As time expired in their loss to the Suns, Kerr gathered with Curry and Green on the sideline, telling them, “I don’t know what’s gonna happen next, but I love you guys to death. Thank you.”
Kerr told reporters after the game, “I’m definitely not going and coaching somewhere else next year in the NBA. I would never walk away from Steph. But all this stuff has to be aligned and right, so those are all discussions that we’ll have.”
Curry also spoke to reporters, expressing his desire for Kerr to “be happy” and not wanting to dictate what Kerr should do. He added, “He knows how I feel about him.” The 12-time All-Star and two-time NBA MVP also mentioned that he plans to continue playing beyond the 2026-27 season.
Looking Forward
Despite the challenges faced by the Warriors this season, the future remains bright for Curry and his teammates. With a strong foundation and a dedicated coaching staff, the team is poised for another competitive season. As the NBA continues to evolve, the Warriors will look to rebuild and regain their position as one of the league’s elite teams.
Curry’s leadership and determination will undoubtedly play a key role in the team’s success moving forward. Whether it’s on the court or off, his impact on the game and his community remains significant. As the basketball world watches closely, the stage is set for another chapter in the Warriors’ storied history.
