Una Healy has opened up about her past relationships, admitting that things haven’t always gone smoothly. She’s reflected on the controversy surrounding a reported throuple involving former boxer David Haye and his girlfriend at the time, Sian Osborne.
The situation made headlines three years ago when Una, a member of The Saturdays, was said to be in a three-way relationship with David and Sian. Although she has denied this, the topic resurfaced when David joined the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! South Africa camp. His comments about Sian, including calling her an “ugly duckling,” sparked backlash from viewers, who felt his remarks were sexist.
In a recent interview, Una spoke about the relationship she had with David, which she described as a “situationship.” She told The Sun: “I haven’t had the best track record. I’ve moved on so long ago from all that. You live and learn in life. I think that I’ve learned now what I don’t want, and I’m going to have my non-negotiables, what I will not tolerate or put up with.”
She added: “I don’t want to do the whole situationship thing. I’ve done that; I tried that. It’s not very fulfilling. I’ve actually written a song about it.”
Una explained that songwriting is a way for her to express her feelings. She previously wrote a song called Walk Away, which included lyrics like: “You had my heart in a noose while you were filling your boots / Had a soul like worn-out leather / Now you can step aside / And I will walk on by, by.”
Una was married to rugby player Ben Foden from 2012 to 2018 and shares two children with him. After their divorce, she rebuilt her life and now lives in the house she grew up in. She is currently single and has dated jockey Aidan Coleman and Irish singer Darren Flynn. On her current relationship status, she said she’s “very happy on [her] own right now.”
Photos of Una, David, and Sian together on social media fueled speculation about the throuple. In late 2022, Una traveled to Ibiza to celebrate David’s birthday with him and Sian. Later, she spent Christmas and New Year with the couple in Morocco, posting a photo of them all hand-in-hand with the caption: “I’ve started 2023 in a comfortable place, feeling genuinely happy and at peace. Here’s to this year being ours x.”
David later referred to both Una and Sian as “beautiful human beings” who accepted his “authentic self.” According to reports, he and Sian used the dating app Raya to find a third person, and Una eventually became part of the arrangement.
However, Una later claimed she had been “hoodwinked” into the situation. She denied ever dating Sian, calling her a “really nice girl” and stating that she “wasn’t a throuple.”
“I had to Google the T word because I’d never heard it,” she told a podcast. “What is this? Why am I being called this name that I have never heard of? I don’t know what it is.”
Una also revealed that her relationship with David was just “a bit of fun” and that she never saw him as “husband material.” She admitted that David was upfront from the start, telling her he wasn’t the only woman he was seeing.
“I was very aware he was seeing other people. I knew he was being honest, and it’s not like I was being cheated on,” she said.
Despite the arrangement, the relationship lasted only a few months, and Una said it had “run its course.” She reiterated her stance: “I don’t want to be part of a three-way relationship.”
David has confirmed his polyamorous lifestyle in the past, referring to Una and Sian as “queens in [his] life” on Valentine’s Day. However, one of his exes told The Mirror that “one woman will never be enough for him.”
After his relationship with Una ended, David became romantically involved with Corrie actress Helen Flanagan, whom he met on I’m A Celeb in 2012. Helen later described the arrangement as challenging, saying: “He had a girlfriend and an open relationship. I didn’t mean to fall in love with him, but I did.”
Like Una, Helen denied dating Sian, saying she “felt very guilty” about everything.
When David entered the I’m A Celebrity All Stars series last year, producers were eager to hear more about his romantic history. While some contestants, like Gemma Collins, were open about the stories, David chose to keep his private life out of the spotlight.
According to a source, he “decided he did not want to talk about his private life.” This didn’t stop Ant and Dec from making jokes about his personal life, and David shocked his fellow campmates with his description of Sian, calling her “lovely” but “a proper ugly bird.”
Viewers criticized his remarks as sexist, with some saying, “You can’t say that!”
