Demi Lovato Prioritises Well-being, Cancels Five Tour Dates
Demi Lovato has made the significant decision to cancel five stops on their upcoming “It’s Not That Deep” tour, a move that highlights a deep commitment to their mental and physical health. The announcement, shared via Instagram Stories on February 10th, underscores Lovato’s evolving approach to their career and the importance of establishing healthy boundaries.
In a heartfelt message to their dedicated fanbase, affectionately known as “Lovatics,” Lovato expressed genuine excitement about returning to the stage. “My Lovatics – I am so excited to get back on stage this year and visit you in as many cities as I can,” they stated. However, this enthusiasm was tempered by a candid realisation: “I have realised that I have overextended what may be possible.” This honest admission signifies a mature and self-aware artist who is prioritising their own well-being above the demands of a packed touring schedule.

Lovato elaborated on the reasoning behind these difficult cancellations, emphasising the necessity of self-care to deliver optimal performances. “To protect my health, and ensure I can give you my all at each show, I need to build in more time to rest and rehearse,” they explained. This proactive stance on health management represents a notable shift from earlier stages of Lovato’s career, demonstrating a conscious effort to sustain a healthy and sustainable performing life.

The five cities unfortunately impacted by these changes are Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Denver. Lovato conveyed their sincere regret for the disruption these cancellations will cause. “I am so sad to say that I will no longer be able to see you on this tour, and I am so sorry to those who planned to be there,” they shared. The originally scheduled dates for these affected cities were April 8th in Charlotte, April 12th in Atlanta, April 14th in Nashville, May 5th in Denver, and May 8th in Las Vegas. Consequently, the tour will now officially commence in Orlando on April 13th, pushing the launch date forward.

For fans holding tickets, Lovato provided clear instructions regarding refunds. Those who purchased their tickets through official platforms such as Ticketmaster or AXS will automatically receive their refunds. However, fans who acquired tickets via third-party vendors like StubHub or SeatGeek will need to contact those specific services directly to arrange their refunds.

Despite these unfortunate cancellations, the “It’s Not That Deep” tour is still slated to proceed as planned from April 13th to May 25th. The revised itinerary includes performances in a host of major cities across the United States, such as the iconic venues of Los Angeles, New York City, Boston, and Seattle. Adding an international flair, the tour will also feature a stop in Toronto, Ontario, before concluding with a final performance in Houston, Texas.
Joining Lovato on this tour as the opening act will be the promising emerging artist Adéla. This collaboration offers fans a fantastic opportunity to discover fresh talent and enjoy a diverse musical experience. Lovato concluded their message with palpable enthusiasm, reiterating their excitement for the tour ahead and their eagerness to connect with their fans. “I am so excited for this tour and am looking forward to seeing so many of your faces singing with me!” they exclaimed.

Lovato has been remarkably open in recent interviews about the demanding nature of life on the road. In a candid conversation with The Hollywood Reporter in 2024, they reflected on the physical toll of touring, stating, “It takes a toll on your body. I’m not 15 anymore.” This sentiment further contextualises the recent decision to scale back the tour, highlighting a mature and responsible approach to managing their health and career longevity. The focus is clearly on ensuring the quality of each performance and the well-being of the artist.
