Disappointed Fan Corrected: Parthiv Patel Addresses Misinformation

Parthiv Patel’s IPL Journey and Recent Social Media Encounter

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel is currently serving as an assistant coach for the Gujarat Titans (GT) and also works as a talent scout. The 41-year-old recently addressed a social media query that questioned his IPL achievements, leading to an interesting exchange with fans.

The incident began when a fan on social media asked a trivia question about which Indian Premier League (IPL) player had never won the “Player of the Match” award despite playing for 13 seasons. The fan then suggested that Parthiv Patel was the answer, stating, “Parthiv Patel never won a single player of the match in 13+ IPL seasons.”

Parthiv noticed the comment because the fan had tagged him. In response, he humorously replied, “Sorry to disappoint,” and shared a photo showcasing his five Player of the Match awards from the league. His tweet quickly gained traction, receiving over 200,000 views and more than 100 replies. Many fans encouraged him to ignore the comment, and the original user later apologized for their mistake.

Parthiv Patel’s IPL Career Highlights

Parthiv Patel made his IPL debut with the Chennai Super Kings, where he helped the team win the title in 2010. He was paired with Matthew Hayden, who is now part of the Titans’ coaching staff, and the duo provided strong starts for the team.

Over the years, Patel played for several franchises, including Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Sunrisers Hyderabad (formerly Deccan Chargers). He later moved to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he spent a season before joining the Mumbai Indians. During his time with MI, he won the IPL title twice—2015 and 2017.

After leaving MI at the end of the 2017 season, Patel returned to RCB for two more seasons. His career in the IPL spanned 139 games, during which he scored 2848 runs with an average of 22 and a strike rate of 120. He also recorded 13 half-centuries during his tenure in the league.

Gujarat Titans Face New Challenges

The 2022 IPL champions, Gujarat Titans, are set to face the Punjab Kings at home on Sunday night. Shubman Gill and his team are eager to maintain their momentum after securing two consecutive wins in the 2026 season.

In their recent matches, the Titans defeated the Chennai Super Kings away from home and then triumphed over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad. This victory has placed the Ahmedabad-based franchise in fifth place on the table with 10 points from nine games.

Looking ahead, the Titans will take on the Rajasthan Royals, Hyderabad, and Kolkata in upcoming fixtures, followed by a return home game against the Chennai Super Kings.
