Essex Star Jordan Wright Dies in Thailand, Aged 33

Reality TV Star Jordan Wright Found Deceased in Thailand

The vibrant world of reality television is in mourning following the tragic discovery of Jordan Wright, a well-known personality from shows like The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) and Ex on the Beach, who has died at the age of 33. His body was found in a drainage canal in Phuket, Thailand, just weeks after he had relocated to the tropical island nation.

The discovery was made by a local Burmese worker who was harvesting vegetables near Bang Tao Beach. Police reported that the worker stumbled upon Wright’s body in stagnant water around 12:30 PM on a Saturday. At the time of his discovery, Wright was reportedly wearing a grey top and black shorts but was barefoot. A significant clue was found nearby: his iPhone 17 was located on the bank of the canal, though not in the water. A hotel room key was also found in his pocket.

Wright’s body was found face down in the water, located approximately a 20-minute walk from the Hotel COCO Phuket Bangtao, where he had checked in. Hotel records indicated that he was scheduled to stay until Friday, March 13, and had not yet checked out. Hotel management had been unable to contact him, prompting concern.

Police Chief Sutthirak Chuthong confirmed to various UK media outlets that a search of Wright’s hotel room revealed no signs of forced entry or any other suspicious irregularities. CCTV footage from the hotel captured Wright appearing restless, pacing back and forth in front of the establishment before eventually leaving the area. His movements, as captured by the cameras, eventually led to the location where his body was subsequently found.

Investigation Underway into Cause of Death

Authorities have stated that there were no immediate signs of a struggle or assault on Wright’s body. However, preliminary observations suggest that his body may have been in the water for several days before being discovered. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted to definitively determine the official cause of death.

In what is now a poignant final message, Wright’s last social media post, uploaded to Instagram just a week prior to his discovery, documented his “fresh start” in Thailand. The carousel of images shared with his followers was accompanied by the declaration, “I’m home.”

Tributes Pour In from Fellow Reality Stars

Jordan Wright made his mark on the reality TV scene in 2018, appearing in two seasons of The Only Way Is Essex. During his time on the show, he was known to have dated fellow reality personality Vicky Pattinson. While Pattinson, who is now married to entrepreneur Ercan Ramadan, has not yet publicly shared a tribute, many of Wright’s former co-stars and other reality television personalities were quick to express their grief and pay their respects.

TOWIE co-star Chloe Brockett shared a heartfelt message on Wright’s final Instagram post, commenting, “Rest in peace Jordan,” accompanied by a love heart emoji. Similarly, Love Island star Chloe Crowhurst added her condolences, writing, “Rest in peace Jord.”

A spokesperson for TOWIE issued a statement on behalf of the production: “Everyone at TOWIE sends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jordan Wright at this very sad time.”

The news of Wright’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the reality TV community, with many remembering him for his appearances on screen and the positive energy he brought. The circumstances surrounding his death are still under investigation, with authorities awaiting the results of the autopsy to provide further clarity.
