Ethiopia Bolsters Pan-African Solidarity Through Expanded Regional Scholarship Program
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopia has underscored its unwavering dedication to Pan-African solidarity and fostering robust people-to-people diplomacy through a significant expansion of regional scholarship opportunities. The announcement came during a vibrant New Year welcoming ceremony held at Bahir Dar University, which played host to newly arrived international students. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present to articulate the scope and significance of this expanded program.
Ambassador Nebiyu Tedla, Director General of the Public Diplomacy Directorate General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, articulated the strategic importance of Ethiopia’s sustained provision of full scholarships. He described it not merely as an act of generosity, but as a profound investment in the future of regional cooperation, the development of essential human capital, and the cultivation of long-term stability across the continent.
“Education remains a central pillar of Ethiopia’s foreign policy,” Ambassador Nebiyu stated, emphasizing its role as a potent instrument for driving regional integration, fostering profound mutual understanding, and promoting shared prosperity throughout Africa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its collaborative efforts with Bahir Dar University and other prominent higher learning institutions across Ethiopia.
