The Future of MasterChef Judges: Rumours and Reactions
This season of MasterChef has only seen three eliminations so far, but there’s already a lot of speculation about what the future holds for some of the long-standing judges. A recent story suggested that judge Andy Allen might be leaving the judging panel next year, with rumors circulating that Declan Cleary, a former contestant from 2023 and 2025, could take his place. This sparked a wave of fan reactions, with many expressing their desire to become a judge on the show if given the choice.
While Andy’s new parenthood status could be a reason for his potential departure, as well as the fact that he is the last remaining judge from the previous group alongside Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, it seems he isn’t going anywhere just yet. A spokesperson from Channel 10 confirmed to the media that the rumour is just that — a rumour.
“We love our MasterChef judges and so do the audience,” the spokesperson told the outlet. “Andy is essential to the show and we cannot imagine MasterChef without him.”
Andy Talks About the Judging Dynamic
Andy also shared his thoughts on the show’s successful judging dynamic during an interview. He explained how the current team of judges is working exceptionally well together.
“When it was my first year, it was also Jock’s first year and Melissa’s first year,” he said. “When it was Poh, Jean Christophe and Sofia’s first year, I’d kind of been doing it for a while so there was that natural kind of leadership role that I stepped into, but it’s been so lovely this year. Everything just feels like it’s clicked more than ever with the four of us and it feels like there’s no need for a leader anymore.”
“Everyone’s found out their niche, found out what they’re good at and really honed in on that, which has been really lovely to witness.”
Fans Divided Over Potential Replacement
The initial rumour about Andy leaving came from an insider source from Women’s Day. However, what has truly fueled the fire are the negative comments about the judges circulating online this year. While MasterChef has historically been a beloved reality TV show spotlighting good food and a love of cooking, fans have been vocal about various aspects, including the judges’ outfits and their tastings.
There were mixed reactions to the rumours that Andy was leaving the show. One fan wrote online, “I’d be happy with anyone replacing Andy, not my favourite of all the judges.” Another fan commented, “Andy isn’t leaving unfortunately. Wish they would get rid of him and Sofia Levin.”
