In December 2025, creator Jenny Han shared an update on the long-awaited movie adaptation. She revealed that while she has made significant progress on the script, it won’t be arriving as soon as many fans had hoped. During TheWrap’s 2025 Power Women Summit, Han said, “I just wrote it,” adding, “we haven’t filmed anything yet.”
Initially, fans speculated that a Christmas 2025 release might be possible, given the importance of the holiday in the series. However, Han quickly clarified that this was not feasible. “I know everyone was hoping it would come out this Christmas,” she explained, “but unfortunately, that’s not happening. It’s not possible.”
