Gadeokdo Airport Corp Relocates to BanDo IVY Planet

Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation to Anchor Busan’s Eco Delta City

The Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation is set to establish its operational base within BanDo Construction’s innovative ‘BanDo IVY Planet,’ a premier knowledge industry center situated in Busan’s rapidly developing Eco Delta City. This strategic move is anticipated to foster significant collaborative advantages, as indicated by a BanDo Construction representative who stated, “We expect synergy effects as the corporation’s affiliated agencies and partner companies settle in.”

BanDo Construction officially announced on the 31st that a ceremony was held on the 30th to formalize the Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation’s relocation to BanDo IVY Planet. The event marked a key milestone, drawing attendance from BanDo Construction President Kim Yong-cheol, Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation Vice Chairman Jung Im-su, General Support Division Head Choi Soo-young, and numerous employees from both organizations.

This agreement solidifies a commitment from both entities to collaborate closely, ensuring the seamless operation and vibrant growth of the knowledge industry center. The Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Corporation articulated its vision, stating, “We will fulfill our role as an anchor institution growing alongside the local community.” The corporation is projected to commence operations in its new premises by late October of the following year, coinciding with the project’s completion. Furthermore, there is a strong possibility that the corporation’s affiliated agencies and key partner companies will also transition to BanDo IVY Planet concurrently, creating a concentrated hub of innovation and development.

Busan’s Eco Delta City is poised to become a transformative urban landscape, slated to host ambitious projects such as ‘The Hyundai Busan’ and a state-of-the-art AI data center, with a target completion date of 2028. Upon completion, this development is expected to emerge as the largest of its kind in South Korea. Initially, the available workspaces within Eco Delta City were primarily designated for knowledge-based industries, including manufacturing, information and communication technology, design, and research and development. However, in a strategic expansion effective from July, the eligible sectors have been broadened to encompass 15 future-oriented fields. These now include:

  • OEM manufacturing
  • Comprehensive specialized construction services
  • Legal services
  • Accounting and tax services
  • Video and audio production
  • Road freight transport services
  • Smart farms

The strategic location and evolving infrastructure of Eco Delta City are recognized as significant drivers of future economic growth. A BanDo Construction official highlighted the burgeoning potential, remarking, “Future value will rise further as transportation improves, including the groundbreaking ceremony for the Eungung Bridge connecting to Saha-gu and the Eco Delta City Station project for the Bujeon-Masan Double-Track Railway.” These infrastructure enhancements are critical in connecting Eco Delta City to wider metropolitan networks and facilitating the movement of people and goods, thereby amplifying its attractiveness for businesses and residents alike. The influx of major corporations and the expansion of eligible industries signal a vibrant future for this ambitious urban development project.
