Youth Leader Calvince Okoth, Known as Gaucho, Expresses Gratitude for New Role

Youth leader Calvince Okoth, known as Gaucho, has expressed deep gratitude following his appointment as a member of the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Board. This new role marks a significant milestone in his career and reflects the confidence placed in him by key political figures.

Gaucho shared his feelings about the appointment, stating that he was deeply humbled by the opportunity. He described it as a turning point in his life and a vote of confidence in his leadership. “I am deeply humbled and filled with gratitude today. I sincerely thank Governor Johnson Sakaja for this great gesture and for believing in me. Your confidence has truly opened a new chapter in my life,” he said.

He also extended appreciation to President William Ruto for the opportunity to serve, linking his appointment to the broader government agenda. Gaucho emphasized that his role is not just personal but part of a larger vision for progress and development.

In addition to acknowledging the support from President Ruto, Gaucho recognized the family of Raila Odinga, crediting their belief in him for years. “Special thanks go to the family of Raila Odinga Baba and Broad-Based Arrangement, who believed in me long before this moment, and three years ago he assured me he would speak to the President on my behalf. Today, that promise has come to life,” he said.

A Dedication to the Grassroots

Gaucho dedicated the appointment to “Wanaghetto,” recognizing the grassroots supporters who have been instrumental in his rise. He urged young people to remain hopeful and focused, emphasizing that if he could achieve this, so could others. “This appointment is yours. If I can come this far, then every young person in the ghetto can rise. This is a true reflection of the Bottom-Up vision,” he stated.

He called on youth to stay united, disciplined, and committed to a just course, invoking a biblical message to encourage resilience and leadership among young people. “Let us continue to believe in ourselves, stay united and focused, always keep faith in God, be determined and always be loyal to a just course. 1 Timothy 4:12. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. One Love Wanangu Wa Ghetto.”
